Only 60GB consoles vary. NTSC versions of 20GB and 60GB have great backwards compatibility with PS2 games (they have two old chips from PS2: Emotion Engine and Reality Synthesizer). As a result, more than 95% of games supported. European versions don't have those chips, old games run on software emulation - only 80% of old games run. Apart from that they are all the same. 80GB version have no differences between PAL and NTSC (both have software emulation). 20GB wasn't manufactured for PAL regions. 40GB has no support for old PS2 games at all (both PAL and NTSC).
Japanese NTSC versions (in addition to differences listed above) have an extra feature in the menu (one online service - available in Japan only).

Best choice - 60GB NTSC console (don't worry - PS3 games are region free, but movies and PS2 games aren't). Get it now, because Sony recently had stopped manufacturing them - it'll be available till stocks last. 20GB isn't available for a long time.

that is going to paintings high-quality, that is going to play ps3 video games from any area.basically situation is enjoying dvd and bluray video clips...that is going to basically play ntsc/ american area action picture discs. yet another situation could be if ur applying a pal television which cant shelter ntsc indicators yet maximum tvs presently can play the two ntsc and chum.
