Satan was prideful- thinking he knew better than God, or at least thinking he could best God......
And that was even before Adam and Eve ate the Forbidden Fruit!!!
At the same time, pride (Biblicallly speaking, pride is arrogance) is the mental state that precedes any sin....
"I'm smarter than God (pride), so I don't have to follow His rules (other sins)..."
In more ways than one, pride truly is the original sin...

If pride is the original sin, and I could see why one would believe so, the answer may have come from the Bible (GOD'S word)
If you read a few verses before the mentioned scripture in the source box you'll see that the person being spoken to is Lucifer,(beter known as Satan). He, because of his beauty, became prideful and basically thought he should hold the position of supreme being instead of GOD.
I hope you take the time to check it out for yourself.

pride is 1/3 of the fruit of the original sin.
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Pride is the sin that allowed other sins to begin. Pride is what made Lucifer desert God, and lure mankind into following his example.
It's a "gateway sin" Having pride makes people sin in other ways and think that they are entitled.

Where does it say pride was the "original" sin????
Ge 2:16-17...And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. 17 But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”
Ge 3:6...Consequently the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was something to be longed for to the eyes, yes, the tree was desirable to look upon. So she began taking of its fruit and eating it. Afterward she gave some also to her husband when with her and he began eating it.
Anyone claiming something else as the "original" sin is wrong.

ORiginal sin is disobedience to God.
I suppose there is some pride in disobeying God, such as Eve may have been deceived into believing that she should be helping God rather than obeying his law (they only had one).
The evil one convinced her that if she disobeyed and ate of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil, that she would actually be helping God, because she woud become as God.
So, pride could be the thought that Eve could become equal to God, rather than his child. Even though the evil one had convinced her that God needed her to be like him and needed her help in that way.
Whenever we think that we need to help God out, we are acting prideful. I know, I do it on a daily basis.

Pride is the original sin since it was the first one to be performed. The idea is that God told all his angels to bow down to Adam. One refused - Lucifer a.k.a. Satan a.k.a. the devil - being proud and hence committed the sin. Alternatively, it could refer to Adam and Eve being too proud to listen to instructions from God and eating the forbidden fruit.
The sin order has nothing to do with the severity of them - rather, it's listed in the order they were performed.

Pride is the original sin because it was the pride of the human thinking that they can fool GOD. or that we are better than GOD, that led us to be doomed for hell and put a curse on us all.

I think it's a sin primarily in the eyes of theologians. Why? Because if you're stubbornly individual enough to think for yourself instead of meekly submitting to some church dogma, you're a serious threat to the whole religious establishment. If you commit a minor sin like adultery or theft, but still believe, then you're at the church's mercy if you want forgiveness. However, if you're 'proud' enough to think for yourself and don't need the church's forgiveness, then you're completely outside their control...

Satan's pride caused him to lose presidence in Heaven and become a fallen angel. Basically, he wanted to be = to God.'
All sins are forgiveable except disbelief in Christ as the only Messiah.
