If you're living in Northern Ky then you have access to many churches, including various Baptist ones. Sounds like Southern Baptist might be one you would identify with. Frankly, Pentecostal churches are a little scary, when you've had a Baptist background. I've known really down to earth pentecostals but Baptists are more centered from my observation. My experiences at Pentecostal churches have not been good, but that may simply have been a reflection of the preaching that I heard. In one instance the preacher made a pronouncement for a move he was promoting, then someone started speaking in tongues, then someone stood up as interpreter who basically said that the person speaking in tongues had spoken for God, reinforcing and approving of what the preacher said. Call me skeptical, but it seemed a little too neatly tied together for me. I believe God can and will do anything He wants to, I also believe that some people are prone to manipulate others in God's name, and call it doing good. And please forgive me, true pentacostal believers, I know that you exist! I just saw a few bad examples.

The Pentecostal church speaks in tongues and this is seldom heard in the Baptist church but it has been known to be in the Baptist church. The Holy Spirit is spoken of more in the Pentecostal Church, but other than these two slight differences, they are both Christian churches. The fundamental doctrine is the same concerning Jesus Christ. I've enjoyed going to both in my lifetime.
A good Bible believing church is not easy to find today. I've just recently moved and I still have not found a church.

There is a very big difference. I do not know what baptist church you went to but Pentecostalism teaches feel good religion and also depending on the church you go to can go to different extremes of speaking in tongues. They used to say and maybe some till say unless you speak in tongues you do not have the Holy Spirit. ( does not mention this anywhere in the bible) Also they into great entertainment and feel good and most pastors stay in same church and class their church as there business and like to make good money. (This can also vary from church to church) Some accept Holy laughter and being drunk in the Spirit and they are bordering on an occult.
See these you tube videos to see what they do.

and now have a look here and see who they really worship

The bible warns that there will be many false teachers and false prophets arising in the last days. Test what you see and hear and see if the bible teaches it and supports it and not the other way around. Pentecostalism has not been around for very long in its current form.
I would never sugest a church bordering on the accult to be a place to worship God

From what I have experienced, baptists are more "toned down" than Pentecostals. Baptists generally believe you have to be baptized to be saved. I'm not sure if all Pentecostals believe that, though I'm sure many do ... but from the Pentecostal churches I have been to, Pentecostals also focus more on raw emotion ... speaking in tongues, and they use a lot of loud, random vocal worship ... but I think they are more easy going in some ways. In any case, it takes some getting used to.

The Pentecostals believe in the charismatic/pentecostal experirnce of being baptized in the Holy Spirit and talking in Tongues.
There are different kinds of Pentecostals however. Some do not believe in the Trinity, some believe you have to talk in tongues to be saved, but not all.
While Tongues and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is Biblical, the Bible does not say you must talk in tongues to be saved.
rememeber balance.

Baptists traditionally don't believe that the spiritual gifts (tongues, prophecy, word of knowledge) are active today. Pentecostals think they are active today.
With either you have to check their doctrine on what they teach compared to the Bible. The Bible is always the final authority.

Misfit you are absolutely wrong. Baptism has nothing to do with being saved. Accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior (accepting that He was born of a virgin and the Holy Spirit, the death, burial, and ressurection for the payment for your sins) is the only way to be saved. Baptism is an outward showing of an inward change.
