Go thru it to see what is important. As far as money wise and medical bill the rest should be okay to get rid of.

I think it depends on what kind of papers you are talking about. Any legal papers I would keep in a safe place. You never know what can pop up after months or even years after someone has died.

Your lucky my dad has been throwing out receipts from 1925!! Keep anything regarding taxes, like 1040s.. state tax papers, property taxbills.. anything government related keep for 7 years..unless its connected to a warranty I would throw out anything prior to that...shred.. or burn them. Make sure you do one or the other.. people have been known to get information off of things just thrown in the garbage and set up new identities with them.. Better safe than sorry.

Sorry your mom died. Why are you in a hurry to get rid of her papers? Is the estate settled? I wouldn't advise getting rid of anything until then.

I would just save them, on a rainy day you probably will look at them even though it's her stuff you will think about what she was doing that month/year and you will throw them when you no longer feel attached, if they are important like information on your mom save them the grandkids later in life might be interested to know about her too.

Well that is hard for me to say. If you think you won't need them for any reason in the future then I say go ahead. However you are sill in the period of grieving so it might help you move on to get rid of some of her stuff. Sorry your going to that. Good Luck!

If it's financial stuff, store the papers, since you never know when you might need them. You never know when a company might decide that they are owed money which you can prove has already been paid to them.

When ever you feel comfortable doing it. But when you do throw out her papers have them burned or shredded, to protect against identity thieves.

i'm sorry your mum died but why do you feel the need to get rid of all her stuff. Shouldn't you be grieving for her instead of getting rid of all her stuff. SHAME ON YOU
