Why can't I make black and white color? Can't I just use Paint or some other free program or something that came with my computer?

Depends on how and where you want to add it. First, you're going to need a program that allows you to edit photos, like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro.

If you want to colorize the whole image a certain color, you need to either change the color balance (assuming the image is in RGB format not grayscale format) or if it is in grayscale, use a new layer of solid color either over or under that one with the opacity of the layers changed to allow the color and the black and white image to show through.

If you are trying to add spot or shape, or colorize a certain part, you could use a new layer with the opacity changed as above, only add color to it where you want the color to be on the final image.

The only way you can add color to a black and white image is to make a layer and put a color transparency on top of it.

You can make color black and white but you can't make black and white color. The information isn't there.

Dr. Sam?? huh, are you serious?

In photoshop: convert to RBG color

Select brush

'Color mode' or 'Overlay' there are a couple of others that would work

Select the color that you want, the luminosity will be preserved as will the details.

I have no clue how to add color to this image. I have no clue WHERE to add color to this image.

I'm lost for words, I've got nothing.

Congratulations :-)
