I don't know what your faith was. Some will turn away from ones that don't believe. You must have had a very bad thing happen to you and you blamed God for it. God doesn't do bad things to you. It is strickly satan that does the bad. It's very hard to follow the faith, but the rewards are great. This is why we can go to God and repent and ask forgiveness and be accepted again. If you have doubts about God, why don't you find a good church that teaches only the Bible and talk to the Pastor ? He can give you scripture to back up what he will tell you. Be sincere and ask God to reveal something to you to prove He is real.? Look around you. The grass, stars, trees, moon, sun, and so much more that couldn't have been put there from a big bang. Study the human body (inside) and ask your self-------how did this get perfect ? Things are where they are suppose to be. Yet, animals are different, Each breed is alike but not like man. Look with an open mind and pray and wait for an answer. Read the Bible. Yes it's hard at times ,BUT, if you pray, from your heart ,and ask God to show you things ,He will. Good luck and I pray you will try and give it a chance. God loves you and Jesus died for you. How much more can anyone be loved ? May God bless you and guide you back to His loving arms. He still loves you and is waiting for YOU. Please son't harden your heart until it's too late. God will not keep knocking forever. There is a time He will remove the Spirit and then you are doomed with no way back. Please think about this asn reconsider and give God a chance. I will be praying for you as I do all the ones I answer.

you can be a believer and NOT religious. I'm Agnostic. I believe there is a creator or omnipotent being, but I choose not to personify this thing. Agnosticism is the idea that you can believe but you just have no set ideals in a set religion.
the Christians are able to practice their beliefs because they say god gave them free will. If "god" gave humans free will, then you have the choice of NOT following a religion. Don't let your family bring you down. Tell them that Jesus preached about LOVE and FORGIVENESS!!! not persecution (although he died on the cross and became HUGE!) Just tell them that god has plans for you (just to ward them off) and "he" will take care of you.
Good luck!

Hard core Christans or Fundies say to be "Christians"... "Religious" is good only for the Catholics... So what are you?
It is hard to dialog without more input...
BTW, I heard old President Bush stating that Atheists are not patriotic because this is a nation under God... So you need to be religious in America... I am religious, maybe too religious!
I know the Bible better than most Christians!

Most religions point A WAY to God, usually in our own strength.
Christianity is a belief on GOD coming to man to restore what was lost. If a relationship is a religion, then 99% of mankind has this "religion" in their hearts.
I stopped being religious a while back. My relationship with the Holy Spirit is being restored and I am loving every minute with Him.
Seek your own path, then you better be prepared for the rewards and shortfalls that will come. My path is toward the throne of grace, where I KNOW His love for me never changes.

I don't know what causes anyone to stop believing at all or even to change beliefs. I suppose it's different for each person. To each his own.
No, I don't think we have to be religious to be good people. I know many moral and kind atheists and I know many mean and nasty religious people. I'm not saying all atheists are good and all religious people are bad--I've also met some atheists that were jerks and some religious people that were wonderful people. Good and bad people come in all beliefs and lack thereof.

The Bible says: "The FOOL says in his heart there is no God." If you kill your conscience and decide to overrule all that is in you with the false information you choose to believe, than, you violate your own life! Most people who do so, have a moral problem. Listen to testimonies of people who were in hell and /or heaven and tell: www.spiritlessons.com Listen this former medical doctor who was dying testify how it is easy to say you are an atheist when everything is going well for you. But when you are dying, it becomes another matter!

President Bush declared conflict to avenge daddy, to make funds for his oil companies and his cronies' companies, and because he had to do something after 9/11; he seized an probability and besides the actuality that he freed a rustic from a tyrant and a despot, he did it for each and each of the incorrect motives. EDIT:"Sorry however the passing of Prop h8 is emposing faith on others". Defining marriage as between one woman and one guy is a non secular definition and dogma, and legislating it forces me to prepare a faith that i'll no longer prefer to belong to. i'm Theravada Buddhist, and there is no limit on marriage or homosexuality, so this legislature prevents me from training my faith, and forces me to prepare an Abrahamic religious doctrine.

Sorry to hear about your family. I've asked questions about religious families on this forum and you should know that most religious families don't do that.
Anyone who thinks you have to be religious to be a good person is either ignorant, tragically misinformed or insane.

No, many good people are atheists.
By far.
My own family makes no issue of my atheism.
Religion hijacked morality and ethics from humans long ago. It's time we take it back.
