Not sure what it means. They hand out stickers, ask people to buy lei's out on the beaches (here in Hawaii), etc. I'm not into the faith at all, but noticed they always ask me to repeat a certain phrase...I've said a couple times to get them out of my face...but what am I actually saying? Hope it's no allegiance to Hare Krishna or whoever it is. It's always the same phrase though...??

Was it "hare krishna hare krishna krishna krishna hare hare hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare"?

I don't know too much about it, but it is a mantra that they chant.

They make you say Hare Krishna becasue they think are doing such a good deed to the world by making somebody say it.

Mantras should be said out of an intention for something good to happen. When the reason for saying the mantra is lost, or when it is not there, or not given . Then there is no difference in saying "Coke is tasty" and saying "Hare Krishna" Mantras should be said with awarness, otherwise nothing will happen. There are words and there are feelings. For feelings to happen, you need to enjoy the mantra and feel the bliss when you say it.

Thank YOu

Hare Krishna's are always happy when the see other chanting the holy names of God. Since Krishna's names is absolute and transcendental, it purifies us. So, they would have asked you to say or chant 'Hare Krishna' or 'Haribol!!'.
Only to useless people and rascals does this seem as business, brainwashing, etc.., What can these kind of fallen people living like cats and dogs always interested in eating, sleeping, mating and defending understand the heart of a devotee who is always interested in the well-being of others.? What do they get if one chant's Krishna's transcendental names... That is real selflessness.., Please don't criticise the westerners who have sacrificed their everything for God consciousness.... they won't get anything by doing a business with us or you... Krishna will take care of them as promised by himself in Bhagavad Gita... Devotees just depend on him...and work for his pleasure...

The problem with "Hare Krishna" people is that they are adament and pestering in nature till they rub into other's skull what they want to say, because most, if not all of them are "converts" from a predominant religion of the WEST ,who also do the same thing of rubbing their religious faiths into otheir's skulls. However sri.Krishna is very Sweet.--Nayanam Madhram=eyes are sweet,--Vadhanam Madhuram=face is very sweet--Gamanam Madhuram=walk is very sweet--Hasitham madhram=Laugh is very sweet--Bramidham Madhuram=his facial expression of excitation is very sweet.--similarly sri Rama's eyes are like Lotus petals=Rajeeva Lochanam. Both are Incarnations of sri.Hari who is the embodiment of benevolence(Hari) with serene, poised, calm, peaceful (Shaanthaakaaram) and lovable.("Ramyathe Ithi sri.Raama")--Hari sri.Rama--Hari sri Krishna.

They chant the Mahamantra. Maha meaning "Great' and mantra meaning "Sacred Name". They believe that by chanting always, the names of God, the mind will be bridled and the person will become free of all the lusts of the mind. Don't knock it till ya try it. If they kept asking you to jump off a cliff, would you do it? NEVER say something you don't know the meaning of just to get people to leave you alone. Our words have power! In the Bible, demons were driven out with words. If you have someone, anyone, in your face and they won't leave you alone, get a cop, or find a way to make them move out of your face. We have religious freedom here in the US, even in Hawaii, and you don't have to say anything but "No, Thanks" to these people! Do not allow anyone to bully you into betraying God!

Hare Krishna's tought me a valuable lesson in reciprocity. I'm a sales person. They know about human conditioning and about brainwashing. That is why they "give" things and that is why they make small requests. Sometimes they hit the mother load and people bite hook and sinker.
