She just received very heavy dose of chemo and she can't hold almost any food down. She tried mostly soups and juices, but not much luck. Most of it she just threw up.Does anyone know of what possibly would be the gentlest on the stomach in her case? She went through several hours of chemo in last few days.Thank you for any suggestions.

She should be on anti-nausea meds such as Zophran, Kytril, or Ativan to name just a few, until she feels better. Otherwise she shouldn't worry about eating until she feels better. Chemo is usually given in cycles . . so when she is not on the chemotherapy that is when she should concentrate on eating well. During treatment she should eat whatever is appealing to her whenever she feels okay. Otherwise don't worry about it.

My uncle has started chemo and radiation..he lost so much weight-80lbs-and could not eat and it really almost killed him-so he is on nausia meds and an appetite stimulant-he is now eating but has to be careful-he does well with yogurt and the old standard chicken noodle soup...he can't have salt though. B/c he wasn't eating and his health just deteriorated so quickly-they have actually put off anymore treatments-which is like a double edge sword-till he gains some weight and gets some strength back. It is important that she eat something- milkshakes, ice cream maybe...my uncles mouth is always dry too-so he likes the milkshakes...

When I went through it, I could only take in things that were very bland, hardly any flavor. Meat was about impossible. I couldn't handle much fat. Dried toast went down, but I ate very slow. The further she is away from a treatment, the better she will be about tolerating other foods.
