i am thinking about scrapping my car and i heard that they only pay you for the metal, so does that mean i should remove the seats and speedometers and ashtrays and whatever i can and try to sell them seperately? or would the scrap yard pay more if it is intact? (i really don't know anything about this stuff)

It's not worth it just junk the thing, lol
If it's an old car you might not get more than $50-$100 even if it runs.
Do you really want to have a pile of junk from your car laying around...Who will you find to buy and pick up a drivers seat?

I assume that you are selling it to a junk yard...they will keep it around till most of the good stuff is sold out of it (including speedometers and ashtrays) and then scrap the car for metals.

If it's an old heap you might find it more satisfying to donate your car and use it as a tax write off. You will probably end up with more money that way anyways

if the car is stripped then the scrap yard will pay you very little for the car.
