it is my belief based on the above scriptural passages as well as some of the experiences of missionaries that many people open their lives up to demon involvement through the embracing of some sin or through cultic involvement [both knowingly and unknowingly]. examples may include immorality; drug/alcohol abuse...as these alter one’s state of consciousness; rebellion; bitterness; transcendental meditation. in our western culture, we see an increase of eastern religious teachings under the guise of the new age movement.
some people develop an unhealthy fascination with the occult and demonic activity. this is unwise and unbiblical. if we pursue God with our lives and are clothing ourselves with his armor and relying upon his strength [not our own]..we have nothing to fear from the evil ones, for God rules over all

As a Christian, I do. The bible speaks of this. I am not mentally deranged. Also I have someone in my family who I believe with all my heart is possessed with a demon. I have heard him speak in different languages, talk in many voices that were not his own, claim to be a demon of Lucifer. This person is my brother and is an alcoholic. When we try to pray for him---this is what comes out of his mouth. I'm 38, not a child. He's 40. I know he knows no other languages and I know my brother and THAT is not my brother's voice. Yes, I believe in demons.

If you believe in the Bible and the teachings of Christ you kind of have to believe that there are demons. Christ talks about His disciples needing faith so that they can drive out demons, and there is talk of Christ driving demons out from people. Once, he drove several demons out of a guy and into a herd of pigs. Or whatever you call a gathering of pigs.
Also, you don't necessarily have to be sinful to become demon posessed. I'm reading a book called "Pigs in the Parlor" and it talks about demon posession in small children, what sin would they have committed? Demons look for weakness as a way in, especially if God has a special anointing on your life. Yes, sin does open you up for it, but being weak can do it, too.

Yes, of course! In the New Testament, Jesus had to cast out demons numerous times to save the souls of the poor people they inhabited. That's why it is against our religion to use ouija boards? We truly believe that it can contact demons, and are those the type of people you want to be taking advice from?

Nic, there is an opposite to everything. Good vs. Evil Happy vs. Sad, do you understand? The Bible tells us that we entertain Angels unaware, we must then entertain demons as well. The Bible talks about demons frequently in the Old Testament. They still roam the earth as they have no one to help them to cross over. There are ghosts that roam this earth for centuries because no one will take the time to cross them over to the "white light". So remember, for everything there is an opposite. I hope this helped, Blessings

They should.
Jesus himself expelled the demon/s from the man/men.
(Matthew 8:28-34) When he got to the other side, into the country of the Gad·a·renes′, there met him two demon-possessed men coming out from among the memorial tombs, unusually fierce, so that nobody had the courage to pass by on that road. 29 And, look! they screamed, saying: “What have we to do with you, Son of God? Did you come here to torment us before the appointed time?” 30 But a long way off from them a herd of many swine was at pasture. 31 So the demons began to entreat him, saying: “If you expel us, send us forth into the herd of swine.” 32 Accordingly he said to them: “Go!” They came out and went off into the swine; and, look! the entire herd rushed over the precipice into the sea and died in the waters. 33 But the herders fled and, going into the city, they reported everything, including the affair of the demon-possessed men. 34 And, look! all the city turned out to meet Jesus; and after having seen him, they earnestly urged him to move out from their districts.

Yes, we believe there are demons. It is recorded in the Bible that Jesus, on at least 1 occasion, cast out demons. The demon said his name was "Legion" because there were so many in the possessed girl. Jesus cast them out, they went into pigs, the pigs ran into the water and drowned.

I believe in demons, and the devil, and hell.
And I'm a pretty liberal Christian. Last time I checked I wasn't "mentally deranged"....

Yes, that is the proverbial battle of good vs evil.
The Southern Baptists often talk about kicking the devil in the behind.
However, the strongest Force is Good - God - Light which always is victorious over darkness. Jesus is Lord.
