It depends. A sit down dinner sounds better but everyone is given the same exact plate. At a buffet I am able to put whatever I want on my plate. For example, if you don't like the vegetable you can take more potatoes or if you don't like the entree you can substitute with a roll and more vegetables or something.

It really depends on how many people you will be having attend it. I would say buffet. If you are having a ton of people I would definitely say buffet. Sit downs are nice but anything like that I have been to, they just don't have enough staff to serve everyone at about the same time.

Buffet, and not the style with stations. We concept long and stressful approximately what we'd have for our wedding ceremony, and for our 200+ travelers at a lodge ballroom, it became into actual spectacular. We chosen amazing ingredients, as a buffet is as large as you intend it! we've merely been at weddings the place it is so stressful to make certain the waste with plated food, as they pop out with entree after entree, and enormously once you do not understand what's coming next, you do not truly understand how lots to consume of the present plate in front of you. as an occasion, you're given veal with ravioli, yet you already know there are perogies and cabbage rolls coming - what to do? extra helpful to have a buffet. And the single massive wedding ceremony we've been at which became into relatives type - became right into a great catastrophe. they did not have sufficient servers paying interest to the tables they have been meant to be tending, so at our table as an occasion, there have been 9 people - and we did not consume all on the comparable time, nor each so often get to have the 'appropriate' mixtures of ingredients at the same time, because of the fact the serving dishes have been merely not refilled (4 strapping men ingesting heartily did not help the two). *added - approximately buffets taking 'longer' - not unavoidably so, in case you have an spectacular caterer and the right form of buffet strains for the style of travelers there.

As a vegetarian, I would prefer a buffet. That way, I could load up on items that I did like and I could avoid items that don't agree with me. I understand that a sit-down dinner is a nicer and most of the time, more elegant option, but I would like to have the freedom to choose how much I want on my plate and what exactly I want.

Definately sit down.
Only 1 wedding I have been to was buffet and the food was cafeteria quality. Meats were dry, gravy thin, curries greasy, salads wilted. Plus they went up table by table for we were waiting for ages to get up there. And they paid $70 per person for that! very bad.
All the plated meals I have experiences were lovely, tender meats, tasty sauces, great presentation and I have never had to wait too long for it. Yes they were a little on the smaller side, but you generally get 3 courses so that more than fills you up.
Definately plated, all the way.

Buffets for sure! You can plan them as elegantly or informally as you want, depending upon the selections and the decor! However, the bride and groom should be served!
Served meals are just a pain. Tough to coordinate, lots of wasted food!
Went to a formal wedding once where service was 'family style', and that was the worst idea anyone ever had!

I prefer sit downs, but you have to have at least two dishes to give people a choice (then, for the vegetarians or others with dietary restrictions, cater to them as well). Buffets are more popular because they are less expensive and usually offer more choices, but I would rather have a plated meal.

We had a buffet. People really enjoyed sampling everything and being able to come back for seconds. Several people came up to me and said they were surprised that they liked the vegetarian dish (butternut squash ravioli) even though they wouldn't normally order it. . The carved beef was a real hit with men in particular.

I have been to mostly buffet weddings. However if your wedding is more formal i recommend going with a sit down.

I prefer either one. If the food is good that is really all that matters.

Buffets because sometimes you get things in sit down meals that you just don't like, I'd rather have a buffet so you can pick what you like.
