I've noticed that the fighers of the eastern world were thinner, but yet still strong, very strong; and the fighters of the western world were big and bulky. Why are these two cultures different from one another in strength/physique. Which culture had the most strength?

Diet and lifestyle has to do with it. The eastern physique was geared more towards stamina and longetivity, while the western physique is geared more towards enhancing physical appearance for the intimidation factor. That's why Asians on the average live longer and stay healthier and active as they age than most Westerners. Strengthwise, strong tendons and joints play more role in physical strength than muscle size.

Eastern cultures put less emphasis on physical strength and more on technique which is the reason we have so many MA styles coming from there is because that is their focus. Here, the focus is more on brute strength which is why we tend to focus on weightlifting and fighting styles like boxing and wrestling.

I have seen bulky Asian people, it is simply a matter of applying oneself and having the knowledge and understanding of weightlifting to "break the mold" and defy genetics. I think true greatness comes from combining the two mentalities of strength and technique to make an effective fighter.

The short answer is ...... genetics.

The long answer includes lifestyle, nutrition, and so.

Some eastern fighters like Hong Man Choi or Kazuyuki Fujita are NOT thinner (or smaller), the Eastern countries are developing eating habits that's affecting the people (getting bigger like the western counterparts)

"eastern were thinner, but yet still strong , very strong." LOL no their not stop watching kung fu movies, matt huges would crush any pencil neck eastern fighter. westerns are stronger over all , not because where you are from has anything to do with it , just because westerns believe very strongly in strenght training , power lifting for fights , easterns still havent got allong with the program.

WHAT!

The "eastern physique" guys are NOT as strong as the "western physique" guys! I can give a ton of examples!

The truth is that the eastern fighters are thin, but not that strong! The western fighters are bigger and stronger. SOME examples of "western" fighters who are bigger and stronger are guys like Rampage, Matt Hughes, Forest Griffin, Randy Couture etc.

The truth is that "western" fighters lift more weights on average compared to "eastern" fighters. Also the fights I see "western" fighters push around "eastern" fighters a lot!

ALSO "western" fighters seem to dominate in the UFC because of there superior size and strength!

LOL!
Look at all these UFC fans talking...
I think it's mostly because westerners lift much more often than easterners.
Plus, more muscle does not necessarily mean stronger punches and kicks.
A lot of skinner guys can throw powerful kicks and punches.
I would say that westerners do have advantage on the ground.

What fighters are these?

Culture has very little to do with strength, except where the culture values strength and therefore its members train for it.

What you think you are seeing is probably a difference in training regimen and nothing more.

I think they are starting to lift weights more in the East, mainly they do not have room to raise cattle and eat red meat in the East like out here in America because of overpopulation. The Polynesians who are Asian get just as big and strong as us though and so do the Asians in the upper parts of Asia. That Yushin Okami guy is easily one of the strongest guys the UFC has. i don't think they do steroids as much as us either though.
