Puppies sleep a lot when they're little because learning new things constantly wears them out. We used to lose our dalmatian pup and find him curled up asleep under a chair or round the back of the sofa where he'd just conked out.
Just keep an eye on your pup and if you're still worried, ask a vet to just rule out that there's nothing wrong. At 5-7 it shouldn't even be away from it's mother anyway, so no wonder it's sleeping a lot.

You shouldn't have a dog that is 5-7 weeks old. The seperation from the mother shouldn't have been done before 8 weeks.

But since you do have him, he's a puppy, he's gonna sleep. When he is up you should interact with him and show affection. This is the time when they should be with the litter and learn "dog" stuff. Be gentle so he knows that you are now his new mother/father. Good luck.

puppies usually need 6-12 hour sleep daily! i know...its alot but puppies need their sleep u know. they are growing. when they turn maybe 4-6 months they will start playing more sleeping less and becoming more indipendent and aware with the schedual. make a scheudal so your dog knows what is when. you probobly think im crazy and thinking dogs cant read. they cant. but eventually they will catch on after you follow this schedual for 2 weeks. i have already made a schedual and im waiting for my puppy to still be born! LOL! anyways leave him to sleep! he really needs it.

I think your puppy is part Bear and is getting ready to go into hibernation. If so he will wake up in the spring. He will probably be a little grumpy when he first wakes up so don`t leave any children laying around.

He should not have left his litter that young. Young puppies do almost nothing but eat, sleep, play and poop. All the very young puppies I've seen have slept about 10-14 hours a day.

Puppies sleep a lot. Let him get his rest, his body is growing and that takes a lot of his energy so he needs as much sleep as he can get. When he is awake you can plan with him all you want. If he wasn't tired, he wouldn't be sleeping!

He's learning and growing a lot - he should definitely sleep a lot. Don't worry, when he's older he'll want to play ALL THE TIME. Like others said, he should be with his mom - I hope he was a rescue or something.

Sleep beside him so that he can get the physical contact he would have gotten from mom and littermates! And you will keep him warm too.
