A guitar is basically a musical instrument made of wood, with a hollow body shaped very roughly like a figure 8, wih a neck attached. 6 strings go down the neck and are attached to the body , passing over a sound hole and a bridge. At the other end of the neck is the head with the tuning machines. The guitar is used for playing chords and tunes. You can also get electric gitars, which have flat bodied and no sound hole and require amplifiers to be heard. This is a very simplified explanation, but I hope it helps.

A guitar is a 6-stringed instrument, normally tuned as EADGBE. It's shaped like an 8, with a neck. The neck is fretted, which means the half steps are marked with small metal bars embedded in the neck. You're typically meant to play more than one string/note at a time, creating a chord. Sometimes you pluck the strings with a pick, a small (usually plastic) triangular-shaped chip.

A guitar is a stringed instrument evolved from the LUTE and VIHUELTA.

They ordinarily have 6 strings.

The current varieties of guitar can be atributed to a Spaniard named Torres, An American named Martin and another American named Fender. Torres proved that the sound board is KEY to tonal quality and the body can be made from almost anything, including paper mashay, Martin improved Torres' design by building a bigger body witch we call the DREDNAUGHT style guitar. Leo Fender added electrical pick-ups to the guitar creating the electric guitar.
