If you don't like one of the preset levels you can set one of the "user" settings to whatever you like. Adjust the color, brightness, contrast, ect... the way you like it for your viewing conditions.

Nobody can answer that. The TV has different setting because the room you sit in has different brightness than other room, your eyes may be more/less light sensitive, you may prefer classic movies with a darker tone or summer popcorn movies.

You can always try this: Get a copy of Avia or Video Essentials DVD and go through the calibration steps. This will at least set your TV up to some standard.

Live with this image for at least 2 weeks. Then, after recording the settings, try adjusting a few things to see if you like the change or not.
