Do you comprehend that many believers don't subscribe to this nonsense? You're taking the viewpoint of the fundamentalists, the lowest common denominator of religions, and applying it to all believers. It would be no different than taking the views of an uninformed atheist and saying all atheist believe this way.

I'm not atheist, but I am an agnostic who doesn't know any god. But I was born and raised Catholic. Baptized, confirmed. Catholic school for 10 years. Alter boy. The whole deal. I still remember crying when my sister said she was atheist because I was convinced she was going to hell. Yeah, I know it seems that some atheists can be stubborn, as can some Christians. But know some of us do think. Many of us weren't raised without a God, we had to think to get here. My faith wavered, but I find more logic with my current stance. I hope this was helpful, we aren't all idiots. I've had doubts, I've switched beliefs many times, and I will in the future. If you think enough to have your faith waver, then congratulations; as long as what you believe makes you happy, stay strong. But yes, we think.

Yeah, I'm agnostic and I firmly believe that no one in the world deserves an eternity of suffering, no matter what they did. I really hope that such misguided people realize that their hatred is hurting other people, and that it's always best to make the most of life on Earth, no matter what you believe lies beyond. I think they'd be much happier people, and make those around them much happier as well.

Well even before that you need to understand that man himself is an eternal being.
The concept of eternity is not hard to comprehend when you realize that God himself is eternal. He has no beginning or end.
This is why Jesus Christ represented the Love of God to suffer and die in your place in hell, so that you would not spend eternity there.
Do not think God did not plan for people not to go there. He died for humans beings only. He died and suffered the punishment of eternal separation on the cross for every human being who would ever be born so they would not end up in Hell or the Lake of Fire. Remember that Hell was made for the devil and his angels only.
IN the end it is the person's own fault if they choose not to accept God's way of salvation to reconcile sinful man back to God, by asking God to forgive him of his sinful nature.

I don't believe it is properly understood.
I'm still studying the subject but I don't believe we have interpreted eternity properly. The word in greek also simply means an 'age.'

Yes and they see this as just and fair, its pretty sickening to say "we're born in sin, God knows our future, and if we dont accept a blood sacrifice we go to hell for eternity" its sad to think in such ways

At least I won't be cold. Now if it were eternal damnation in a deep freeze, I might reconsider. But I would much rather work on my tan.

Nah, they just hope they're right and the rest of us wrong. They've been terrified into believing that claptrap and they want us to prove them right.

Personally, I'm not convinced hell is eternal...Revelation says that death and hades are thrown into the lake of fire. From what I know of fire, it doesn't preserve, it consumes.
