Think about it.

I'm a Christian, and I have several freids who are atheists, agnostics, what have you. The thing I hear from the atheists is "If God shows me He exists, I will believe", or "If there is proof of existence, I'll believe immediately."

I mean, does God REALLY owe you that, so that you'll follow HIM? If God supplies you proof upon demand, that means He's subservient to you, the atheist, the person who doesn't believe in His existence in the first place!

I'm just asking a question. An atheist I know once said, "I'm not bowing and scarping to a man who's been dead for 2,000 years." Should the same man bow and scrape to get you to believe? I mean, what's in it for Him?

Just trying to spur some thought, not to be a recipient of personal attacks. But if you do personally attack me, you're just fulfilling prophecy anyways.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, all!! :)

God owes me nothing, but He gives me everything.
He has nothing to prove, yet He has shown Himself to me many times. I am blessed.

Thanks!

There is no evidence that the Creator supports any religion what so ever. It is the man made version of God and HIS Bible that create atheists. Atheism is more natural than the Gods that humans concoct. Our Creator doesn't need religions when most act to diminish HIS power and omnipotence by insisting that humans are not as God intended.

Whether they believe in a God or not is of no consequence to the Creator of the Universe, neither was blood sacrifices. Yet man was certain that this wasteful barbaric act won favor. The blood sacrifice to atone all of humanities sins is a human concept not befitting the Creator of the Universe.

Every creature on earth lives in harmony with the Creator but man. Man attempts to use God for it's own benefit but doing so has proven to be self destructive.

Atheists are probably better servants of God by not attempting to speak for Him or use Him to suit their own selfish desires.

A non-existent being cannot owe anyone anything. Since there is no God and never was a Jesus, that's the best response here. Now, if you're asking me to pretend such a being exists and answer your question, I'll answer by analogy:

Does a doctor owe you information about the "treatment" you're about to receive? If the doctor wants a reasonable person to submit, to take the chance on the treatment, then they have to give the person enough information to do so in good conscience. The interesting thing about the Christian deity is that it does not offer any information directly, and what information is claimed about this supposed being is from the Bible, and depicts a cruel, warlike deity that I would not worship even if it could be shown to exist.

If god wanted me to believe in him, don't you think he'd show himself to me, or find some other way to prove it. Why does blind faith have to be the only way to "get to know" god? What's wrong with hard evidence? If god was all-loving, then don't you think he'd do all he could to direct us to the right path to salvation?

No - he just expects us to have faith, no matter what. My mind doesn't just work on the premises that, "I'll believe because I'm going to get some treat when I die, even if it's not likely that it's true." Testing us all of our lives doesn't sound like a very benevolent being to me.

If god expects us to believe in him, when evidence shows otherwise, then why did he give us the critical thinking skills to come to the conclusion that he doesn't exist? It's like giving ice cream to a child with ADD and telling her, "Don't you dare lick it, because if you do, I'll burn you forever." She's GONNA lick it, so why bother punishing her for the inevitable?

I think this is an interesting question. Why do some believe and some don't?? Do you really think you believe because you are of the minority that truly desires truth?? Why do so many seek truth and come to different conclusions?(Oh, I forgot, I was supposed to answer, not ask questions.)
Ok, so do you think that Moses was a great man of faith?? Let me ask you it this way, how much faith did it take to believe God when God was speaking directly to him when he was promised countless decendents???
I don't think God owes it to us to reveal His self to us, I think He desires us to seek Him out. At the same time, I think God understands how hard it is to believe in something that we never see and can't really prove.

Yes, and it's not just a matter of owing us something. This is our situation- We are born, and are exposed to various people saying things about one god or another and what he said. That includes scriptures- things people printed. Why should we believe that? Why should we take what people say at face value? Why should we bow down to priests? It appears to be nothing but a cultural phenomenon, and that's what it is.

If a god exists, I don't think he "owes" me proof...but I would also think he would understand why I can't just say "I believe" based on nothing more than the words of man.

Yeah, pretty much.

Science has proved almost everything that has to do with God to be false. Sorry, but I'm not going to believe something unless it's cold, hard fact, and PROVEN to be there. I just can't. It's not that I don't have the "mental capacity", I just prefer truth and believing in what makes sense and that I KNOW, than something that I'm just supposed to TRUST.

Well, first of all, Jesus was only dead for three days. I guess that's too hard for them to accept. Also, one only need look around and see evidence of God's existence. Unfortunately He knows that there will be people who have to "see to believe" and He just wants to believe without seeing. It isn't that hard but some people just have too much self contrived intellect.

Well if he did do all the things the Bible said, then I guess not, but I've always been given to understand that the whole point of God was that there was no proof, and that he required faith......
