As far as I know, the only reason for taking the bread first and then the drink is because that was the order it was taken in the last supper in scriptures. Maybe you took them in a different order, but the symbolism is still the same. (and remember, the cup and the bread are just that - symbols. They do not save or condemn you in and of themselves.) Plus, I think God is a whole lot more concerned with your attitude/motivation that in following tradition to the letter.

First of all you are suppose to follow the Preacher's lead. Everyone eats and drinks at the same time. Do you know the bread represents the body of Christ and the juice represents the blood of Christ. You are not suppose to take communion unless you have prayed and asked for forgiveness. It is wrong to take communion if you are not a believer. I'm sorry you did it wrong but if you are new at it I think God will understand. I've never been in a church that the Pastor didn't tell about the bread and then tell everyone to partake. The same with the wine or juice. Remember to follow the Pastors' lead and don't jump the gun so to speak. Good luck.

Its a tradition to remember Christ. Our loving savior. According to the bible, it was the bread first, then the wine. I think by doing it in the order that Christ did, shows more respect to Him but I'm sure that it wouldn't bother Him as much as it bothers other people. We tend to get legalistic at times and place rules over things that dont really matter. But as far as tradition goes, just go along with the way the church has been doing it for 2,000 years. No use starting something from nothing that can lead to trouble that can cause damage in a real way and allow the devil to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

The bread and 'wine' are symbolic of Christ's sacrifice for us; what matters is not the order you take them in, but that you understand what they represent.
After all, if it were a sin to do things a little differently than what exactly took place at the last supper, most churches would be in big trouble for serving grape juice instead of wine, lol!

a million. Taking communion is an indication of your settlement with the Catholic faith. on the grounds which you do no longer agree, you mustn't take communion. All you probably did became make people think of which you compromise with the Church. It wasn't revenge in any respect! 2. think of of it this variety. think a vegetarian lady married a meat-eating guy and went to his kinfolk's residing house for Thanksgiving. They, of direction, had a huge turkey yet a great number of non-meat issues that she might desire to consume. Now think this lady had to get "revenge" in this kinfolk for serving turkey that's against her ethical ideals. are you able to think of how ridiculous it would be for her to declare, "i will coach you! i'll take a mouthful of turkey and spit it out interior the lavatory after dinner!!" that is fully INSANE. 3. Your plan became merely as ridiculous. happily, you swallowed the Host, and Lord keen, some stable will come of it. 4. i don't be conscious of what you propose via being "compelled" to bypass to Mass, so that is complicated for me to be conscious of even if if or no longer that became incorrect. If somebody held a gun on your head and threatened your existence, then of direction it would be incorrect. in case you have been with kinfolk and the whole kinfolk went to church at the same time and you're a minor, then it does not be incorrect to assume you to stay at the same time with your mothers and dads for a kinfolk experience.

according to what I understand about Jesus and the Bible and all the 'in between', the wrong can only be in 'the heart', not in the 'order' or the 'place' or anything like that.
taking the 'drink and the bread' without 'thinking about it', sounds suspect . . . was it taken as a symbol of the body which was broken for your sin? . . . the blood that was shed for your sin? . . . and you . . . are you repentant?
Those are the issues, those are the questions . . .

I know that you are supposed to make sure you have confessed befoore taking communion...the church follows the order of scripture I am not certain that Jesus would mind what order you do it in....he was opposed to legalism after all. He wants you to remember his life death and ressurection most

AT most churches, they pass the bread and then the wine/grape juice.
In some churches. they give you the bread to dip in the cup (which I cannot bring myself to do, as it seems unsanitary).

Man-made traditions can end up a real tyrant. And the church has made an enslaving tradition out of the last supper. Of course it doesn't matter.

It's not the traditional way, but God's not going to strike you down for it either. Your dad needs to relax, it's not a sin to take them in a different order, definitely not worth getting mad at someone over!
