he just eats a couple a day, but wasn't sure. He does chew them.

Well you know puppies they try to eat everything. And he is really good and doesnt destroy the house or any furniture.

I have noticed that his poop has been mushier sometimes more that normal. but I will keep him away from them. Wasnt sure if I should make him stop or not.

No! A friend of mine dog ate acorns too and ended up in the emergency vet with poisioning from them also a bowel obstruction because they sit in the intestings like rocks. Dont let your dog eat them ok.

I think a lab will eat anything....given the chance. You could have a clogged intestine or stomach.

I know it is a problem but you need to teach him not to bother the acorns. You will have to either remove them from the yard or stay on constant watch when he is near that tree.

Teach him to drop it. (not using acorns) Use anything., a shoe, a toy. Just make him learn what "drop it" means. Then when he is in the yard and goes for the acorns, distract him from the acorns and if he picks up one, yell "drop it"

YES. DEER LOVE THEM.MAKE SURE HE IS CRUSHING THEM FROM THE SHELL. IF NOT COULD BLOCK BOWELS AND INTESTINES CAUSING SURGERY.
