"In music, solfege or solfeggio (sometimes called solmization, see Etymology below) is a pedagogical technique for the teaching of sight-singing in which each note of the score is sung to a special syllable, called a "solfege syllable" (or "sol-fa syllable"). The seven syllables normally used for this practice in English-speaking countries are: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, and Ti."

The syllables were made into a mnemonic song so it would be easier to remember:

Doe (do), a deer, a female deer
Ray (re), a drop of golden sun
Me (mi), a name, I call myself
Far (fa), a long long way from home
Sew (so), a needle pulling thread
La (la), a note to follow sew (so)
Tea (ti), a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to doe, doe, doe, doe...

It's Do Re Me Fa So La Ti Do

do re me fa so la ti do
these are what singers use to practice. its a scale on the piano. It goes from middle c to high c which makes a complete octave, or a perfect eighth.
do - c
re - d
me - e
fa - f
so - g
la- a
ti- b
do - c

and then theres the little song that goes with it.
DO(doee) a deer, a female deer
RE(ray) a drop of golden sun
ME a name i call myself
FA(far) a long long way run
SO(sew) a needle pulling thread
LA a note to follow so
TI(tea) a drink with jam and bread

and then backwards its [do ti la so fa me re do]

the song can be done with hand signals too.

i think that was in the sound of music or something. anyways i hope i helped.

do, re, me, fa, so, la, ti, re, do
Do a deer, a female deer, re, a drop of golden sun, me, a name I call myself, fa, a long, long way to run. So, a needle pulling thread, la, a note to follow so. Ti, a drink with jam and bread, that will bring us back to Do!!
Its from "Sound of Music" and the song that Maria used to teach the VaN Trapp children the musical scale.

do re mi fa sol la ti do

It's called solfah, or solfege, if you want to look it up on the internet. It can be done with hand positions, too.
And there are special modifications of those syllables for the sharps and flats.
