religion cripples the mind and renders its users unable to form logical thought; because of this religion has been getting a pass for centuries, instead of being ridiculed like the nonsense it is

It is a moot point, you can never prove atheism correct, it is a problem with logic. You cannot posit an absolute without infinite knowledge. You cannot say right now "Nowhere in this universe is there a purple unicorn!" You would need knowledge of the entire universe to do so. To have infinite knowledge, you would have to be God. If you are God, there is a god. Now before you shrug that off as semantics, think it through, it is quite interesting. To answer your question, one's decision on the existance of God, either way, it made from the sum of the of evidence. The bottom line is, there is not definitive proof either way (i.e. the faith arugment comes into play), but there are many pieces of valuable evidence to help you make an educated decision. I do find it funny now that Christians have become rooted in logic, some of the same things that atheists used to do are now being complained about when the tables are turned.

Columbus believed he could sail west to India. Would be be justified in demanding proof that this couldn't be done before he gave up his belief?
If I truly believe that I can climb the highest mountain, would it be rational to continue to believe as long as it wasn't proven otherwise?
Belief is an avenue to obtain a goal. As long as there is hope, then a rational belief is possible.
I don't attack science. I don't think science has anything to say about purpose or design or a Designer.

stereotyping is a dangerous thing to do... so please, don't stereotype others, even if it is out of ignorance...
I don't demand proof from atheists against God, because they won't find any. Many Christians do, but it's stupid to do that since atheists will do it right back, and we'll never get any were like that. I believe in God, you might not. I try to agree to disagree with atheists instead of getting into this pointless argument.
I don't need, or want, evidence for or against God because I believe, and you can't change that.

Aesity means self-existence. Aesity explains the metaphysical nature of God as a purely self-existent being that exists in complete actuality. God is not a being that is created by another god; neither does God create himself into existence. Rather, God has always existed as an unchanging, completely actualized being.
God has his Being of himself and to himself such that he is Absolute being and the definition of existence.
Since God’s essence is his nature and God’s existence is the same as his essence it follows that God is existence.

They don't all make such demands, and as an Atheist I personally have NEVER asked for proof of their god(s) as I know none would be forthcoming.

Fundy Christians are never intellectually honest when they insist that science should prove a negative. they just think they're being clever. consider how pathetic their idea of clever is.

Real Christians don't care one little bit what atheists believe and usually don't bother discussing the subject with them any more than they would discuss it with a plant.

I'm wondering how Jocko arrives at the conclusion that this is a straw man fallacy. I'd be interested in knowing his line of reasoning for this accusation. Please enlighten me.

I don't give a hoot what atheists believe; let them. We as Christians know how our ending turns out. Let atheists discover for themselves. It's their life. I love how 'certain' atheists on here say we have no thoughts of our own :) Yet they repeat and repeat what they have heard other non-believers of Christ say over and over and over and over.....I simply rebuke them as I do satan in the name of Jesus. Have a Go(o)d day!
