There are a lot of armchair generals on YA, that is for sure.

A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, I was a young man. Who instead of being drafted, enlisted into the Air Force, got my gold bar, and then went on to become a B52 pilot. I remember the protesters of the day with their tied dyed hair and their long dirty t-shirts. Or was it the other way around? I remember the bombings on college campuses, the spitting on us returning military members in airports, I remember an older woman who went to Hanoi and betrayed our POWs, I remember seeing all those young men being brought to McGuire and Travis Air Force Bases in black body bags, I remember the peace marches, I remember being cursed as a baby killer for a war I had no choice in fighting, and I remember the comradship of the people who served in all the services.
Today these protesters do not have the sofistication as the youth of the 60's and 70's. Now the big lie is "I am against the war, but support our troops". There always have been and always will be people who whine, cry and rationalize about anything and everything. They do this about the war, living green, green house gasses, their gas guzling SUV, while crying we are fighting the war because of oil. The list goes on and on.
I have finally learned after 60 years, that like TV I can change the channel in my head and they all disappear. I put up with this **** during Vietnam, but I won't do it all again. In addition even though I am retired and haven't piloted a B52 in who knows how long, if the Pentagon called me, I would be on the next plane to where they want me.

YES, its a sad embarrassing thing. I can't believe how many people are selfish and cowards. Back in the other wars I don't recall so many men whining, looking for excuses not to fight, honor their country.
It's particularly irritating as my Soldier is on his 2ND deployment, 15 months, and others aren't willing to pull their share. No one wants to go to war, be away from their families and loved ones, but there are times when you have to be a man and step up.
It's a shame that so few are sacrificing for so many.Just another sign of the crumbling of America.
Go Army...Hooah!

No...I've heard plenty of people, both active and civilian who object to this war, but I haven't heard anyone say that they wouldn't fight. I've had nothing but positive treatment from people regardless of their postion on the war.

Oh my goodness. you have no concept what number situations i've got meditated that myself. some people choose to kick against stable reason and stimulate extra strife. Why is it much less complicated to accomplish that? we are clearly selfish - that is why. to think of of others extra suitable than ourselves demands us to do something no longer favourite to us.

No I dont actually.
For the same reason I don't get tired of the war opponent's ranting and hypocrocy either.
Its freedom of speech. Its freedom of choice. The things we defend.

I tend to agree. If supporting the war meant people had to be willing to pick up a rifle, or have their own kids available for a draft, it would be a different story.
It's so much easier to talk about other people going to war, when styling in a SUV heading to starbucks to buy yet another cup of premium coffee.

Oh yes I do. Set the example, folks...football knee, pilonidal cyst, multiple student deferments, direct commissions into the Air National Guard right after completing basic training as an E-1...no thanks.
If this cause is worth someone else dying for, it's worth you, the war supporters, dying for.

No, but I do tire of people pretending they know everyone on YA. You don't know who has served or who hasn't. You don't know who is serving and who has family members serving.
Again, no just the pompus attitude of some questions.

All I have heard is BS from people like you trying to claim that this is common.
