It begins to beat because the cells are alive and energy produces, and without energy the av node won't start. You need electric to get the av node to start, once you have, the blood can begin pumping through out the body. But where does the electric come from?
That is why they use heart defibrillators, when some on dies, the AV node need electric , to start the heart which a beating heart keeps the person alive. The heart wont pump properly if you have corroded artery blockage.

The heart begins beating before the brain starts working and the brain always responds to the hearts demands but the heart doesn't always.
The heart is amazing because the seat of belief in a person, the belief about God/Allah and if this is absent then nothing can fill its void except God. No matter how you try to fill it.

The chemical reactions ARE why it begins to beat. Life is nothing but a chemical reaction after all.

I want to know why this is in the the R&S section....unless you're trying to make a point.
The human heart begins to beat because that's the way we're designed....that's what our DNA tells it to do.
Maybe a scientist could explain it better.

Because that's what it was designed to do, it doesn't really have a choice, it just does. It beats because God designed it that way.

My theory:
The the nervous system develops first. The automatic nervous system controls all systems of the body -- heartbeat, lung function, sensitivity to touch.
