You weight has nothing to do with size. At about 5' 9" or 10" a ballpark size would be about an 18" frame.

The size of frame that is right for you will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Also, the labeling of small, med and large differs depending upon the manufacturer. Also, cocpit lenghts also vary.

Initially, the size guides given on many web sites

e.g.

are ok. However, you can not beat going and sitting on the machine. Firstly, stand astride the frame. The distance between the horizontal bar and your family jewels should be between 2 and 4 inches. By allowing this margine, when you make an unplaned dismount (Bin it) your family future is relativly assured.

Next, find a handy wall and sit on the bike. Adjust the saddle until, using your heal, you can just about rotate the crank, one revolution. If you go over your seat posts max enxtension, get a larger frame. If your seat post is only about 1 or 2 inches extended, get a smaller frame.

You might find a large frame comfortable, however, you should remember that you have to push the extra metal up hill. Also, the longer cocpit might make you less maneuverable on single track.

Best advice - go to your local bike shop.
