No I don't think so, you would soon know as your hair would start to thin and dry. Hairdressers claimm that there dye is different and won't damage your hair so much as bought products, but if they did, then the shops wouldn't be allowed to sell them!!!!! I have been dying my hair sensibly since I was 14 and looked after it and I am 56, very little grey, and my hair tho naturally thin and wavy is in good condition. We have all seen ladies on the street with bald patches, usually the hair they have left is reddish, some are nearly bald, that's usually excessive perming and dyeing. Have fun with your hair and if it looks good, you feel good all day. Luv Camilla, the vainest woman in the world. Grey - not on my head!!!!

Yes, that is excessive!!!! You should color NOT "dye" your hair every two months, if you're going to put color "all over" your head & not just the regrowth. (scalp area) That's what dries your hair out. Stick to one color for a long while & every six to eight weeks, have a friend who knows what she's doing, add color just to the scalp area. The third time you have the regrowth touched up with color, then, after the color sits on the regrowth for the proper amount of time, the color can be applied to the rest of the hair, to freshen the color up, but just for ten minutes or so. If you just pour the color on your head every time you color it, you will end up with straw for hair. Take the advice I have shared with you & keep your hair condtioned well, & get the "ends" trimmed every six weeks. Your hair will be a lot healthier that way. Try to limit the use of styling aids & heat on your hair as well. These will also dry your hair out.

If your hair can take it every two months then it is okay. I do. My hair is still soft and looks nice but I would say it depends on your hair.I also use good shampoo's and conditioners and give my hair a hair treatment once a week.I am sure you will be told no,but as I said if your hair is in good condition and you use good products.
But...... I think you should ask yourself a few questions Why would you want to any way? Why would you not just do the new growth. What product are you using that is not lasting.

"What is considered excessive hair dying?"

Yes, you dye your hair a little too much. I saw a programme about it, and some womens heads got eaten away at. I advice you to dye it a nice suttle colour (your natural colour, as roots can show) and leave it for a year or so to give it a rest from dying. Otherwise your hair could fall out.
Hope I helped.
Meg.

Yes, I think it's too much. I tried dying my hair for every month before. And the next thing I knew, it's damaged! Good thing it's back to my normal hair again.

No, you should have a touch up, on the 1/2" regrowth once a month and a 10-15 minute soap cap at the end.

yes it dys out the cuticles in your scalp so i would recommend that you do it once every 4 to 6 months, also in between you can do a root touch up then you don't have to do a full head dye as often

Not if you are only dying the roots of the hair and not your entire head of hair. If you are dying all your hair, you will soon have a build up of hair color on the older outgrowth that will over time cause your hair to be wiry and dull looking in appearance.

Do you dye the roots or the hair itself?

I don't think it's a lot but be careful.

Excessive is when your scalp gets more dye than your hair
