My dog has a protruding slug looking/apple seed size thing on his muzzle. it looks like the end of a worm but its smooth and its brownish with a tint of green. im wondering if anyone knows what this is...i looked up cuterebra parasite on dog and in the pictures they show it looks like the end of one, but there is no "spine" on my dogs. Please help!

he's a mini poodle, but i do not think it is a tick on account of how much it protrudes from his skin

Sounds like a tick to me, also, and the face & muzzle is a common place for them to get a hold!
If you lok closely, where it meets the skin, you SHOULD be able too see tiny black legs, if it IS a tick.
If you decide it IS please remove it carefully, but don't touch it, as they are major carriers of Lymes disease (google that), nor should they be 'smothered' out, with marg or vasaline, they really need carefuly removing and killing.
Don't panic, but do act.
Good luck. Horrible things.

Sounds like a tick to me. They can protrude quite a bit as they fill up. See the link below for some pictures.

Go to the vet tomorrow. There is a form of melanoma that looks like this with the seed worm sticking out a bit. He needs a medical check up right away.

Are you sure it's not a tick? They can vary in size and color, depending on the variety. I would have your veterinarian take a look and remove whatever it is. The sooner the better as most parasites can pass on diseases to your dog, or an infection could start up. Good luck

That sounds like a tick sticking out of your dog, they will burrow their way under your dogs skin if left. Either take it to the vets or find someone who knows what a tick looks like and pull it out.
