Leukemia is a disease which affects the bones basically because it is a blood disease and guess where the blood is made....in the bones! Because of this, the platelets are affected. The platelets clot our blood. Therefore, this would be the reason a leukemia patient would "bleed out". It is also extremely important for a leukemia patient to avoid any kind of accident which can cause bleeding. When experiencing any kind of bleeding, it is important to let the doc know.
