I'm so sorry, sometimes, these things can't be helped but just think that 9 years old is a good age for a dog! It's like what happened to my guinea pig we were going to take her to the vet the day after but she died of a heart attack in my arms, so i know what you're going though also my dog tess had to be put down because of cancer but i know she is in a better place know. if you want to make a special place to remember her buy the why not plant a flower or bury something that she really liked and remember her like that, maybe even write a poem or song about her. i'm so sorry about what happened but this might help you get though this time.

I am sorry to hear that. My puppy died today, too. We only had him for 3 days. My husband and I lost a dog that he had for almost 10 years last December. So we waited a while before we got another puppy. As soon as we got the puppy home he got sick. We took him to the vet two times in the 3 days that we had him. He was acting like he felt better this afternoon. I thought he was going to be okay.

I too lost my dog (a toy poodle) this year. Her name was Ginger and she was 17 1/2 when I had her put down back in June. It was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, but she was blind, incontinent for the most part, and moderately senile. Like you, I had an appointment with my vet to discuss whether or not to have her euthanized. I dreaded having to make that decision until the morning of her appointment when Ginger started having seizures. That made my mind up; I knew it wasn't fair to have her suffer anymore. I thought she was going to die before I got her to the vet but she hung on and we got to say our goodbyes.
I know what you're going through; I miss my dog almost every day, especially when I wake up in the morning. I am single and live alone but when Ginger was around it was almost like having another person there. Although she was relatively a quiet dog, I still felt her presence in the house.
If you're able, try to find another dog to adopt and love. Unfortunately, I'm not in the position to do that right now. Several years after I got Ginger, I had to change jobs. The job I have now is out of town and requires me to be away from home 11 -12 hours a day. I don't think it would be fair to a puppy to be away from them that long. Hopefully your circumstances are different and you'll be able to find another canine companion.
Keep your chin up and God bless!
