Ok...we've all had lucid dreams, when, in a manner of speaking, the waking self finds itself operating fully conscious in the dreaming self's world, but what does it mean when the dreaming self finds itself operating fully conscious in the waking self's world?
Is this possible?

'More than possible. 'Occurs frequently. You do it yourself though you may not be aware that you do, or maybe you 'are' aware... :)

Actually, there is a cross-collaboration when we speak of wakefulness and consciousness; but the compass of what is retained on returning to the physical plane, for instance, depends upon the individual and second, on the nature of what the mind itself can contain if the experience one will have had did occur well above the Mental Plane.

But the question above is working with the physical mind via the mental body -- the house of Mind -- which tends to analyze and perplex and super-impose loops of all kinds while trying to solve paradoxes.

Unless we are speaking about the waking state in the physical plane, we are already working in any one of the subtle planes, using any one of the subtle bodies, which each correspond to a given major plane or universe or heaven or however one wishes to denote, and according to one's merit or experience for some temporary but specific learning excursion and as a visitation privilege.

One is being watched during such ventures by the Angelic Host -- again, an individual may not be aware they are being watched and protected yet may return to the physical on awakening and have a subtle knowing that something occurred, which he or she cannot put his or her mental fingers on.

When we fall asleep, we are at once out of the body, though most are not aware unless we have developed ourselves or were born with a peculiar key signature from certain development or through merit or by any number of means, which happens for certain purposes suited for our developments as part of enrichment and learning that cannot be had in the physical plane.

The physical plane, though, is incredibly wealthy of providing experiences in ways that the upper planes cannot accord. The wonder about this question addresses just how well we are configured: Life would not be so vicious as to lock us to the physical plane. 'Doesn' work that way! Thus as part of our configuration as human beings, we are 'designed' to slip out of our bodies on falling into the sleep state -- which can occur well before any said REMs happen, contrary to what sleep studies try to assert.

Or -- we become conscious practitioners of this, not relying solely upon the sleep mechanism. This configuration is to serve of purposes to allow the subtle bodies to draw force from the vastness which is Life Itself. Hence, why great physical recovery and healing and mental resolves do occur while sleeping: the physical body is not all alone doing this.

The incapacity to draw upon the great energies and forces would cause certain harm eventually and death: indeed Man does not live by bread alone.

Through certain spiritual practices, one 'can' develop that ability consciously and intently to move into subtle planes fully awake and conversant with those who live on these the varied planes, which realms generically are called the Astral, the Causal, the Mental, the Etheric, and on into the higher planes... One can as well converse in full physical waking state. The avatars and holy ones known and unknown in scriptures and at any given time knew and know well of this.

There are scores of names for any one of these subtle, or higher, planes and subplanes -- names which differ by geography, time, culture and path and otherwise.

There are not few people among over six billion on Earth who can with but a blink of an eye move into any one of the subtle planes with as much ease as you would stand up to flip a light switch to the on position.

Again, wakefulness and consciousness are closely tied. This is why some individuals in the physical' may have that, say, GIFT, to 'project' -- which is to say, warp matter, or manifest objects from out of the ethers or truly levitate or literally fly through the air -- though such knowledge and ability is kept closely secreted and guarded, and rightly so.

Each of these said bodies can as well manifest several bodies on the subtle planes, not unlike NASA would send out satellites in space: in the case of dreaming and waking, these are holographs of Soul Itself as so determined by one's Higher Self. Again, such as the question on possibility you pose is not an unheard of reality to an especial if small number of us.

Yes. It is possible and happens daily in all our lives.

•Intuition
•Mediums
•Telepathy

All the known "psychic" things you hear and categorize under
such. All those are the higher consciousness' way of presenting itself in the "waking" state. You, as a spirit have 3 levels of consciousness:

•Consciousness (physical body)
•Subconsciousness (soul)
•Superconsciousness (spirit level, we are one with the Whole. At this level, we are on a conscious level with all there is - the divine).

They all at some point in our lives, interfere; lead us in a direction we had NO idea why. Our mind (physical) had no idea WHY we chose that. Or why we didn't go to work the day there was a 20 car pile up on the expressway.

What's really fascinating is déjà vu . Where your "dreaming self" interferes with the "waking self" and the "waking self" realizes it was from the "dreaming" state of consciousness.

I've undergone a few retreats that seem to me most aptly described as "shamanic." And in the ritual, I feel what may well be happening is that we access that part of us that is active in dreams, we become a kind of waking dream. It feels like a theater piece, enacting and embodying archetypal forms.

It is extremely powerful and healing and transformative. And, as often as not, I'm somewhat amnestic for the precise contents of what I experienced afterwards.

I've also had a few encounters with hypomanic states, where stuff just seems to be speaking to me, again, as if symbolic the way dream imagery can be. I always get a lot out of those moments, but I know I can also get off balance if I take the images too literally or try overly much to insist that the truths I saw in that state are "permanent."

Hard for me to find the right answer to this one. When I dream it's usually right before I awake for the day. Sometimes I can remember the images of an event that occurred many years ago. some are good, some are not. There are times I dream of someone I haven't seen since childhood and they seem so real, right down to the details of the things we did, the way they talked and looked like. Everyone can relate to a dream you've had the night before but you can't remember what it was about when you woke up the next morning. Explain that one? Then I might be able to sleep.

Consciousness is a state of being. When one is fully conscious, one is conscious and stands aloft in dream state of consciousness, and conscious standing aloft in the waking state of consciousness. There is no self in either case. Better simply to say, there is no self. When the subject disappears so also does the object. Only the enlighten are fully conscious. Most have their existence in different levels of a dream state. I'm reminded of that age old saying that has been passed down through history, "Awaken thou that sleepth."

Hmm.... For me, to get access to that "subconscious" or "inspiration" side of things, while awake, I need to be really listening. For me, those little messages are usually not much more than a word (or picture) popping into my head, accompanied by a peaceful feeling. If I ignore the word, it passes as if nothing happened.

If I let myself recognise that I have "heard/seen" something significant, and calm myself enough to really perceive what it means, then these little "dreams while awake" are great guidance for making life more useful... For instance, a friend's name might pop into my head... or just a feeling.

Eg. Last saturday, I had an overwhelming urge to go and buy/get myself a dog (weird because I don't even want one, at present). I didn't go with it, because we are not allowed dogs at my house. However, the next day, my best friend told me that she had gotten the little dog to which I had referred her (on the internet), discovered that it was "psycho" and then she had taken him to the pound (animal shelter)!

I guess "something" was trying to tell me that I needed to get that little dog, but the message was so vague I didn't realise what it meant until it was already too late. Just goes to show that when we live our lives at too fast a pace, we miss out on many opportunities where we might have made a real difference in the world.

I believe that most "gut feelings" or "inspirations" are similarly vague, and most people don't even notice them.... But IMO, those "waking dreams" really are our connection to Divine guidance. We need to take those calm moments, to ponder on the feelings/thoughts we get.

During a period of my life, when I was unable to function in reality, my waking self endured the nightmare that was my life while the 'dreamer' created a place of safety and peace of mind. No one was ever aware of the changes except me but I survived the ordeal until the two selves merged and I am stronger for it. I am able to control my dreams as well. If I should ever be imprisoned by disease or restraint, I know that I will always be able to liberate my soul. Don't know if this helps you but I had forgotten about this incident until your question triggered the recall.

When the dreaming self (spirit) is operating in the waking self (physical) world, it is called "hypnogogic imagery"......

It is that the body can see spiritual images or images in plain sight.....

the body has turned over full authority to the sleeping life (spirit/subconscious mind)..... while the body is making an attempt to regain control..... what it sees is spiritual images....

Not much on the internet with regards to hypnogogic imagery... but they are symbolic in nature in the sense that they are spiritual images that unfold before the eye while the mind is attempting to wake up....

In other words: Still there!!!

Heh, its possible alright, and it may mean that you've taken a few too many benadryl, or that you've eaten of the "devil's apple" (not a reference to the bible) ;)

On a more mystical note - Methinks we are all in the dreamy state of conciousness, to some extent. There is too much that we let pass by, and far too many moments we take for granted, and don't stop to smell the roses. We all need to wake up!

Swwack!

Now that hurt. Here I was, minding my own business and not doing any harm, and you had to ask a question like that. I have come up with as many answers as you’d like to count, but am happy with none of them.

I can say that we do see the world differently. I will need to consider your perspective, try to see through it. I do not have an answer.

I will think on this. Heck, I may need to sleep on it.
