I'm 15. I drink. I smoke. I have fun.
I don't drink to get drunk, or smoke to get high.
When I drink, I drink with friends, or if I'm having girl-trouble, because drinking & smoking (or blitzing) help me get my mind off of personal problems.

For some odd reason I never get caught smoking.. but often drinking. My parents yell at me, ground me, and attempt to prevent me from drinking, but why shouldn't I? I know for a fact that they drank when they were my age, why be so hyppocritical?

Drinking and smoking hasn't harmed me; I play sports and I'm really good at them (especially baseball if you want to get into specifics).

Why not drink?
In your various answers, please give me health, moral and others reason.

Thanks,
~Pete

what i learned in college psychology classes;---------your brain is not really fully developed until about 20 years of age and you are much more likely to develope an addictive personality by using or abusing chemicals at such a young age.

what i learned in the real world;------------------using or drinking over problems does not solve a damn thing, in fact it usually makes things worse because you are training yourself to ignore or run away from problems! in essence you are training to be an emotional retard.

it is always better to face problems head on and comunicate honestly and openly!

if you continue on your current path will probably deny you the priveledge of being able to drink like a gentleman when you can legally do so. put the **** down and leave it alone for now-don't cheat yourself out of a decent future!

Biblicle speaking, you should keep a sound mind. Also what if you were with people drinking and a friend started drinking with you. That friend becomes addicted and her or his whole life is ruined. They struggle to get off of the alcohol. Eventually they die from liver poisoning. ETC: See things are about oyhers. I remember my best friends daughter started out jist like that and she tried more and more, well after her 21st birthday they found her wedged in between the toilet and wall dead. What a sad thing to happen and a waste. You have to look at the bigger picture. And as intelligent as you sound you can see ahead. Stop before it is too late, and God Bless you young Lady. Be an ex for your parents also.

In the first place, you're a minor and it's illegal. If you want to get busted and end up in juvie or in a foster home, go right ahead.

In the second place, you don't notice the effects NOW, but wait a few more years. You have so much to look forward to: alcoholism, emphysema, heart disease, cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, toxemia, uremia... the list goes on and on, each disease more fun than the last.

In the third place, it gets expensive. And the more addicted you become, the more expensive it gets; especially when you have to factor in the health problems, doctors, hospitalisation and ultimate death.

Besides which, I hate to be the first to tell you, but alcohol and smoke STINK. They make your breath stink, your skin stink, your hair stink, and your clothes stink. Now *that's* going to make you popular with the girls, isn't it?

Reeeeaaaaalllll coooooool.

Smoking will deplete your performance eventually in sports
drinking in moderation is fine but be aware that your tolerance will grow and your brain cells will not...so you could end up drinking more to get that buzz...if you need booze and smokes to get your mind off of problems also know that both are depressants..smoking is such a tiring habit...
Apart from all that ...knowing the facts and still doing the deeds is your problem..

pete,
do you know that each ounce of alcohol you consume destroys millions (literally) of brain cells? that over time, alcohol will cause diabetes, that over time, you will end up running to the bottle to solve your problems instead of working them out? You use these substances to ESCAPE reality, and in the long run, you WILL regret doing so. Might be why your parents are so upset when they catch you drinking, and would be more so if they caught you smoking, they know what it has done to them. You might try considering what can happen to your future health and happiness. And give up the bottle and the other crap and learn to deal in a real world.

I can tell you one thing for sure. Drinking because of girl problems or other problems is one sure fire way of becoming an alcoholic.

I wont give you a lecture because it seems to me you've made up your mind, but its funny how you talk about how you're good at sports, but didnt comment on how your grades are.

It hurts your body. Listen to your parents they are not idiots. Talk to your family Doctor about what you are doing.Drinking and smoking will harm your body and you will end up spending a lot of money trying to support your habit as you get older.
