Many Christian denominations bless water and make it 'Holy water'. The same is done with wine and bread.

If a person possesses these items but does not know it, then is there going to be any difference in them?

I mean, does anything really happen to these liquids and bread, or is it just symbolic for those who believe?

The difference is in the faith of the person. If the person is unaware that he is drinking holy water, it would be no more than drinking water that has not been blessed.

If you happen to be a vampire, the "holy" water will sting and burn when you touch it.

If you're not a vampire, I'm not sure how you could tell the difference.

(Hey...vampires make about as much sense as "holy" water.)

Maybe it works sort of like voodoo. If you believe in voodoo, you can be injured by someone sticking pins in a doll that looks like you. If you don't believe in voodoo, you're safe.

You would have a vial of holy water that would not do anything for you because it is your faith that renders it efficacious,it is not a magical charm.
