Was the teacher reading it alone, or was it part of the reading for the class? I think that as long as the teacher wasn't preaching any christian ideology to you, that it is ok because the Bible is one of the greatest pieces of fiction ever written.

This is a total myth. Banning Bibles from a school would be a clear and unquestioned violation of the First Amendment ban on government prohibiting the "free exercise of religion". Also, there is no "Renton School District". Renton is part of the Kent School District. The only major religious case I know of with regard to Kent is "Students at Kentridge High School vs. Kent School District" which was a case brought by students that formed a school bible club at Kentridge High. The school district, citing 'separation of church and state", refused to give the Bible club money on the same basis that they funded non-religious clubs such as the choir, press club, 4H etc. The 9th Circuit ruled that the school district had to treat a religious club in exactly the same manner as they treat non-religious clubs, and ordered the bible club to be funded. It's a book isn't it? They read or required us to read boring junk when I was in school.
It makes no difference if she was reading it to herself while the class was taking a test or whatever. She wouldn't have been reading out loud to herself. She can do whatever she wants while the class is working on something.
You, and too many young people, have heard Bible bashing most or all of your life. Rebelling is to be expected of the young. This is just one of the many band-wagons that are being shoved down your throat. Hop aboard, everyone else is doing it.
Do you really want to be a pawn in someone elses game? Wouldn't you rather think for yourself?

This country was founded on the Bible and it was read frequently in the classroom. Nowadays, since Christians are not doing their job, the WORD does not get out. Consequently people will get irritated during Bible readings. The voice they listen to instantly balks at Christianity

And you think you'd be better off ignorant of the Bible. Ignorance is bliss - sorry to spoil your bliss. I guess you're offended at all the other things the teachers are trying to educate you about as well.

Gee, that's....so horrible. I feel sorry you had to go through that.

I wouldn't worry too hard. Pretend she was just doing it for the literary value. Would you be annoyed if she was reading the Satanic Bible or the Koran?

Was she reading it quietly to herself or was she reading it out loud to the class? If she was reading it to the class, was she "preaching" or was if for a literary discussion?

There's nothing wrong with the Bible. It's not emitting some "God rays" that are going to infect you. The only reason to be insulted here is if she were preaching to you. If so, see the principal.

Did you ever read John Steinbeck's novel "East Of Eden"? It was inspired by the story of Cain and Abel. As literature the Bibble is as great a source of inspiration as Shakespeare. One of the main points of his story is that Cain is the first murder and as such he passes on that shame to all of us. We are all the decendants of a murderer.

The school system "kicks" God out of the classroom; and then turn around and pray to him for help and understanding why we have school shootings ,drug problems, disrespect, etc...

Now that's annoying!
