What will you do if you realize you were worshipping the wrong god(s) all along and therefore made the right god(s) angry?
*Cheers*

Firstly I think I'll have a drink I'll answering this question.

I would be wrong, that's all there is too it, assuming it's the Christian God. If it was Anubis then I might stand a chance as he weighs my heart against a feather.

But I think that the more important question is what if YOU are wrong? What if after you die you end up with Baal looking down upon you, instead of your Christian God?

On the contrary, what if when YOU die, you became aware that there really is no "god" or "afterlife" ... you would realize you wasted 10% of your income on some stupid church and lived your life based on a lie.

I have no such reservations - when I die, it'll be just like in "The Terminator" when the robot gets crushed at the end ... the light in my eyes will just FADE TO BLACK ... and that's the end.

I am agnostic -- but the same question holds for me.

If there is a God, I hope that he is nothing like the one that Christians believe exists (especially Protestants). This god will only let believers into Heaven. That means that he sends good people to Hell. Any God who uses the same criteria for sending people to Hell that Hitler used for sending people to Auschwitz is an evil god -- and does not deserve my love or worship. On principal, I will choose Hell over heaven with that monster.

On the other hand, if he is a Just God, then I will join him, while believers who are not good will be sent to Hell.

So -- as a believer, what happens to you if you die & find out that he only accepts Catholics (if you are not Catholic) or Mormons (if you are Catholic)?

Well, maybe there is. But there's no good evidence for that in this life, and any god that demanded belief based on the available evidence is being completely unreasonable. Which god is it that's going to show up this way? Zeus?

Now, if God wrote the Qu'ran across the face of the sky in stars tomorrow, I'd start believing.

I'd call it an evil and tricksie SOB for providing no evidence of the afterlife. Then we'd probably get into that man-hug thang, I'd throw an "awww, shucks!" chummy-punch to his arm, and then share an afterlife beer discussing punishment of humans.

What ifyou die and you realise there really isn't a god?

What if you die and you realise you've been worshipping the completely wrong one?

"What if" is not a valid argument

lets see what is the real worth for him.
either He is a just "man" and he will judge my deeds
or he is just a naughty celestial celebrity and will judge my /non/praying to him.
in the first case I will get what I diserve,
the second option is a no God and no heaven for me to seek.

We tend to not live in the hypothetical and stay in the land of reality. So "what ifs" are best let to comic books and movie plots.

I'm not worried about it. What if when you die and face God, you discover that the way you have been worshiping God, the particular religion you chose, was the wrong one?
