I am sorry to say but your relative is nearing the end. My Mum pasted away in sept this year after a four month battle with kidney cancer that spread to her liver and lung. Mum also had a fall about 3 weeks before she past, she had no strength to even stand up with someone holding her. About 2 weeks before she was put on a morphine intravenous too because her pain was terrible. About a week before she past her tumors in her chest and neck protruded from her body. She couldnt speak, or do anything. i was glad for her sake it was all over. It is a terrible terrible disease that strips all your dignity. My mum also wanted to be at home, im glad we did that for her. It was hard on us kids but she got her final wish. I i hope your family is ok contact me if you need any support.

I guess that really depends on how much they are giving him. I get IV morphine in the hosp all the time. Is he on a Constant does. Is his dose high enough to keep him knocked out 99% of the time. Does he have a clicker that lets him self dose? Those are the things you really know. I would be more worried about broken bones, especially a hip, than some morphine.

l agree, unfortunately yes, my father in law recently passed away from cancer, and this is what the hospital did also, it does ease the pain and again unfortunately they up the doses as they are nearer to passing on, a lot of times when they are at this stage the hospital will not let you move the patient as it is too painful and stressful on them, ... stay strong and thoughts are with you

I would ask for hospice for home care. They can show you how to monitor the IV if they send him home with this. They also have lots of other support. It is a wonderful service.
