A lot of people who say that it didn't happen know that it did. They either want it to happen again, or they think that if the Holocaust were a lie it would de-legitimise Israel (even though the movement for a Jewish state in the middle east goes back to before the Holocaust).
Other times, people have been taught since a very young age that the Holocaust was a myth and part of a conspiracy by the West by the kind of people mentioned above. They have heard this from their parents, their teachers, their country's media and the general community.

Most people who believe that (or want to believe that) are also opposed to the establishment of Israel as a modern state. Since the holocaust was one of the main reasons that Israel was established, people who think Israelis have no right to be there try to make it seem that the Holocaust never happened, or that everyone just made a big deal out of nothing.

because their goal is not historical accuracy, their goal is to gain support. they do not care whether or not the holocaust happened, this doesn't matter to them. they only want to make people *think* it didn't. there are certain groups of people who think that if they can erase the holocaust or convince people it never happened, then people would stop supporting the state of israel. you will never see a holocaust revisionist who is pro-israel, they are always vehemently anti-israel without exception. its a political agenda.
"because the numbers do not add up.because there were not 6 million jews in all of Europa in WW II"
see what i mean? there were actually about 10 million jews in nazi europe at the time. but historical accuracy is not what they care about...

I have never heard a good argument for the non-existence of the Holocaust, any arguments you do get can be easily debunked with the following:
"Where did 6 million Jews disappear to?".

wow, bookworm nailed it in just a few perfectly chosen words-a thing of beauty! the only thing that i would add is that i think it's absolutely horrifying that there are places where being ignorant enough to deny the reality of the holocaust can land you in jail...

There's enough evidence that it happened. Just like the massacre of Christians in the Ottoman Empire!

I don't know how people can rewrite history. How can people be so blind! It was horrid that they didn't do anything about it at the time, but to say it never happened is a SIN! It is the most vile lie!

They don't... they're getting caught up in the hype by saying so.
The less we entertain this concept, the faster it will go away.
The Holocaust was very real and very horrible.
