I have watched 'Red Dawn' a few million times and have not been able to figure out what Jed's revolver is. All I can tell is that it is a SA, it has a nickel finish, and it has ivory grips. .38 Special ammo is mentioned in the movie, but I dont think that that is what it is. I was just wondering....

Your observation skills are impressive and it was a Colt SAA or Colt "Clone" with Ivory Grips. No way to know for sure if it was an actual ColtSAA 2nd Generation Nickel Finish in 38 Special or a New Frontier SAA in Nickel/38 Special, but Colt actually did manufacture both....Based on the scene where Jed went to their family friends farm, and wound up with the man's granddaughters to look out for. If you remember as they were leaving on horseback, the man gave Jed two boxes of Remington 38Special ammunition and said"Here's two boxes of ammo for your pistol." I blew up that frame on the computer and it was in fact Remington 38 Special ammunition,but that was all that was visually readable.....

You never get to see a close shot, so all that's known for sure is that it is a single action revolver. It could be a colt, or one of the clones.
