you are so sure that God does not exist, but yet Christians think the opposite. In your personal opinion, why do you think that is so?

It's cultural: they were taught that there's a God, and almost everything in western culture reinforces that belief. Believing in god is rewarded by culture, and atheism is _seriously_ frowned upon. The media are drenched with theism and Christianity in particular.

Beyond that, religions have evolved some very effective means of making sure that people stay "in the fold" - notably the demonization of non-believers and the whole "heaven and hell" thing.

to Kent, how much evidence do you need? eyewitnesses are not sufficient? thousands of them? Does God owe it to anyone He created to prove his existence beyond what He has already done? it does not matter. Athiests know there is a God because God was the one who made all humans in His likeness. The only difference is, they are like the pharisees and deny him for their own lifestyles so they have no guilty conscience when they sin, or they just do not care to see, so they don't and make up fake reasons to say God does not exist. We will all see soon enough. I do not laugh at people who perish on purpose though, it is sad.

not an atheist, but...

Christians put faith and dogma first, and filter out/dismiss/rationalize any evidence that does not fit.

Atheists tend not ot claim that god doesn't exist, only that the evidence does not support the existence of any gods, be they singular or multiple.

Atheists are willing to admit they are wrong, if legitimate proof ever surfaces. Christians are not.

indoctrinated to believe it pretty much since birth.

Most people haven't really given it much thought and aren't inclined to because the idea of life after death sounds pretty nice.

Which is why every believer believes they're getting into heaven

Because it's something that parents today have learned, and they enforce it on their kids just as their parents did unto them
