I was diagnosed with depression when I was about 17. It runs in my family, both my sister and my mother have quite severe depression. I was on anti depressants for about 9 month when I decided to come off them. I still have periods of depression now (I'm 23), when I feel it coming on I make an appointment with my doctor to have a chat. I also have a really supportive boyfriend. I'd recommend you go see your doctor to get a proper diagnosis and any medication/therapy you may need. Good luck :)

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.
Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.
Depression Free Method?

My depression ended a last year after 3 years.
I got counseling to end my depression...I was in it for a year. It really did help me.
I also just tried to find things that made me happy. I like to look at videos of baby pandas when I'm sad. It really does help!
Get a good group of friends too. Having fun with your friends automatically puts you in a better mood.
Also...always remember that it could be worse. Someone is worse off than you. I know that sounds bad...but when you think about it, everyone gets depressed. Sometimes it ends worse than other times. But thinking of others and their situations (or whatever you come up with) often makes me rethink WHY I'm depressed. That may work for you, or it may not. Do whatever you want with it.

there are two types of depression, clinical and situational. Situational depression will pass when the situation that caused it is resolved. Clinical depression is a life long struggle, you have good episodes and bad.....but it will always be there. If you think you are depressed, and there doesn't seem to be a specific cause for it...then you need to see a psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment, and you need to continue that treatment for life. You don't stop because you feel better, because you feel better due to the treatment.

There is a difference between sadness and depression but regardless of what you think you have, its always best to discuss your concerns with your doctor.
I'm taking antidepressants, which have helped, along with support from family and friends.
Good luck.

Hi Diane,
Remeber every thing depends on how you take it, bad things will happen to everybody and the effects will last as long as we think about it... so when something bad happens it will be difficult to get over this but remember that doinf something which you like will take your mind off that and listen to good music , dance and do anything you like...
Cheers
