Ok you can have a star. There are racial issues around religions. Hindu, Judaism, etc. Yes you can consider disliking people because of their religion as racism but as many people have pointed out it is better described as bigotry.

john_d_ayer, that answer is kind of beating around the bush. Sometimes beliefs make you suspect people of stupidity but you don't dislike them you just have concerns? Do most people feel that way about some people? I think so and it is wrong. I am glad you are working on it.

No. Racism is discrimination on the basis technically of race but typically natioanlity or colour (for instance, white Americans, Jews and Indians are all Caucasian, but discrimation between these groups would be termed racism nonetheless).

Intolerance of someone religion may or may not be justified. Religion is entirely a matter of choice, and can lead to intolerable and cruel behaviour. In these cases intolerance of someones religion it seems to me is not only justified but desireable for the benefit of others.

Not exactly, although certain religions do have higher concentrations in different regions of the world. For example, if I said I hate Muslims, I may really hate Middle Easterns/Africans. But it is most certainly discrimination.

In some cases no. For instance, if you hate those who believe in Muslim extremist religion whose only aim in life is to destroy your country, your freedom and your way of life - then it's not racist - it's called survival. If someone's religion is going to destroy you - then you have something to fight for and well you don't hate them but you hate what they stand for and you have to destroy them or else they are going to destroy you. Do I hate the Muslim extremist guys who slammed their planes into the world trade center? You bet. At least they got their dues and their religion won't serve them well when confronted with the real and living God. If a person calls all Muslims extremists - well that is bigoted -but how can it be wrong to stand for what is right and save yourself your country and your way of life? But, I mean if a person is alive - there is always the chance that they could change their mind and well - I love everyone who is alive and want them to realize the trust - even Muslim extremists have done that so I can't say I hate them. But, I am all for destroying anyone who makes a direct effort to destroy my country, kill my people and way of life.

I wouldn't say racist, but it's definitely intolerant. However Religion is way different than skin color. Religion is subscribing to a series of beliefs. Sometimes people disagree.

Christians dislike the anti-christ because he steals souls. No Christian should be a racist. Jesus invites every race into the Kingdom of God.

What is racism? Discrimination on the basis of ones race.

What is sexism? Discrimination on the basis of ones sex.

If I were to uphold equality of gender, I will have to anyway criticise Islam for polygamy, unequal rights to men and women and the concept of "Triple Talaq".

Now, I might still be branded a racist even if I spoke for equality of all gender!

That's funny!

Yes.

Race, religion, sex, etc. Judging people because they fall into a "label" is "racist", or bigoted if you prefer.

I tend to be judgmental of Democrats which I also consider bigoted and I am working on that, but, I do not dislike people because they think of themselves as liberal or because they are Democrats even if the Democratic party supported slavery, opposed civil rights and has committed innumerable ethnic atrocities.

Although you have to admit, joining or supporting a political party born in the support of slavery and opposition of civil rights is kind of brain dead so being a Democrat does create a "question" in my mind of how educated or intelligent a person could be. The bigoted idea that Democrats are more educated or intelligent than anyone else is obviously laughable.

I oppose the Political Party, I do not dislike individual members of the Democratic Party.
