No, it would be incorrect to say that Buddhists are atheists. Again, it would be incorrect to say that Buddhists are theists.

Buddha was asked by his followers about the existence of God. Buddha maintained his silence. He never said there is God, neither did he say there is no God.

Hope that clarifies the matter!

They can be. Buddism is more different sets of philosophies than beleif in a god, and Buddha is never supposed to be seen as anything other that a normal man. They even have different sects who argue with each other on their philosophies.

Buddism is a verly loose term, but all aspects of it involve thinking clearly, looking deeper, and seeing truth. Im no buddhist, but some of their philosophies are very interesting and useful to everyday life (like "if you dislike something, enjoy your dislike of it", you can get through almost anything you dont enjoy by thinking that). But they arent supposed to copy their zen teachers; theyre supposed to think up their own stuff.

Buddhism doesn't hold any deity, which is why it is considered atheistic. It is not because they are convinced there is no god, it is because they don't see the use of worrying about it. Enlightenment and life are much more important than the possibility of a being with no evidence.
"Concentrating on a god's existence is like worrying about who made the arrow that is now embedded in your chest instead of removing the arrow."

Most are either agnostic or atheist. Although following the Buddhist philosophies does not prohibit you from following another religion as well. I know some Buddhists who are also Jewish and Christian.

Not all of them and for the majority of them it is a very grey area.
The vast majority believe in reincarnation so there are super natural beliefs. Most of them do not believe in a God as such but in a living universe of sorts. That makes them more deist than atheist.
But the range of thought is from something very close to Hinduism to a simple philosophical position with meditation practice.

their is no god in buddhism and the consept is rejected totally although i would not say atheist but agnostic, as their is always a possibility that we can not tell through reasoning, but the common consept of a personal god, is rejected, their are varying devine beings mentioned by the buddha, in variouse texts but their is not a worship of any devinity just a practice which must be dont by oneself

Buddhists are what I call true Christians, they believe in all forms of life and respect it which I think is great.

Buddhist's are believers and people of faith. I am Christian but get quite a bit of wisdom from their teachings. Many are the same.

Yes because atheist is define as:

"someone who denies the existence of god"

...and Buddhists don't believe in god. Therefore, they are atheists.
