Sounds like a lot but 100 words is pretty short. Just write about people's obsession with shoes. Some people spend hundreds just to look good. Others clunk around in flip flops. Some people will only wear one designer... others shop at second hand shops.

Fashions of any era can be deemed ridiculous; it is an entirely subjective judgment. Any fashion you or I may appreciate can easily be found ridiculous by another.
