Maybe you should read this. Navy Strives to Retain Pregnant Sailors http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,13319,152426,00.html?ESRC=navy-a.nl
Until 1975, women expecting babies had to leave the military. That year, pregnant sailors were given the option of staying in uniform. But because far fewer women served in what were considered "critical" jobs, it was easier for the Navy to absorb the loss if they left.
Now, with women almost completely integrated -- only submarines and commando units are off-limits -- the Navy can't afford to lose them. Today, the Navy allows pregnant women to leave before their enlistment is up only if they demonstrate "overriding and compelling factors of personal need."

yes, they do give you the option to get out.
And contrary to what MrsJvb says" yes, but you must take the discharge BEFORE the child is born, you may not have the military foot the bill." I don't know what she is smoking but the military will foot the bill....they pay for the delivery and the six week check up. I've had two troops and a personal friend separate due to pregnancy. Check Navy regulations for the time line of when you have to decide to separate. At one time, the AF let you separate up to six months after the child was born but not anymore.

Yes, you will get the option to get out on a medical discharge. That is offered to married and single women. My cousin took this option when she got pregnant with her son.
Sway, what exactly is your branch of service? Experience? Pregnancy does not equal hoeing around.

it is not just the navy and the option is not just for single women either. I am in the Airforce, married mil-to-mil and had the option to get out when I got pregnant. I chose not to, but I have known a few girls (single and married) that chose to get out when they found out they were pregnant. But, yes you do get the option to get out, but you have up until a certain month of your pregnancy to decide whether or not to stay in, you can not stay in have the baby and then get out because you had a kid.
