This is more of an Iron Chef question than a Top Chef question. Also, 30 minutes is not a lot of cooking time.

Pick something you'd like to eat and simple since it's only 30 minutes. Dessert like or Savory?
Chocolate
Bananas
Seafood
Peaches

Cute idea. You didn't mention anything about what you like to eat. How adventurous are you with eating new food? Do you eat fish, beef, chicken, etc.?

Just a suggestion, but you may want to work with something you're more familiar with. If it is going to be a cook-off where a winner will be named, this might not be the time to try making calimari for the first time.

Here are some ideas:

Apples
Chocolate
Pineapple
Caramel Sauce
Brie Cheese-not sure if you've had, but this is a very good mild cheese which melts very well
Raspberries
Honey
Ice cream-you could buy lots of vanilla ice cream and lots of different toppings (chocolate chips, sprinkles, Thin Mint crumbs, gummi bears, all the fruit listed above, etc.) and everyone could create their own flavor. Mix in the toppings while the ice cream is a little soft, and then freeze it for at least 30 minutes, and everyone can try the different creations and decide on the winner.

Ice cream will work well for your vegetarian friend.

Hope this helps. Happy Birthday!

Have a pizza making party. Buy pre made crust, then set out veggies, meats, and cheese.

well it depends on what you are able to cook. if its anything then you should use different types of meats people dont normally eat or have like weird vegetables.
