Why Bears, why not Robots,or just make the children not exist,it seems to me a rather strange and terrible way to get rid of a few noisy children. Please don't say"we don't know the mind of God"because most of you spend your time on here claiming that you do know.

He actually didn't send two bears, He sent two beers. And they didn't lay waste to the children, the children got wasted.

No, this does not trivialize God.God pays attention to his children in great detail. I think that you are talking about the children that were harassing Paul. IF I remember correctly the children were not noisy, or just pesty, they were more of a gang that caused trouble. We would not compare gangs of today with noisy children, we would recognize them for what they are. Criminals. If I remember correctly when I was studying this part of the bible, these children were a gang of kids that were disruptive and problems in society. God simply call out some of his creation to protect his child that was following his will and spreading his word. This is a wonderful scene where God protects his people, and destroys the enemy. Showing even the animals of the earth obey his word. So Don't mess with God's children, because it could have very harsh repercussions. All through the scriptures you find places where God will use animals to do his will. Jonah and the whale,Daniel and the Lions den, just to name a few. I believe that our God is a God of details, because of the details that He has put into all of His creation. Since He has put so much into His Creation, it only makes sense that He would take care of them. People are given free will, and when we make the wrong choices, we suffer the consequences of our choices. Those kids clearly did not have any respect for the Word of God or the people that delivered it, so they simply made a choice that caused them their lives.

It was a bit more than a ' a few noisy children '- the woman feared for her safety if not her life.

Bears were used becuase they would not be seen to be out of place unlike Robots.

The kids were not taken out of existance because their crime did not warrent such action.

Did you get this from SAB ?

DO NOT HINDER THE HOLY PROPHETS OF GOD FROM THEIR WORK

If you ever get a mob of 42 after you, ages 18 to 25, young lads in the bible, you may be praying for a couple of bears to go in their direction. God has already took Elijah up in a chariot as the birds fly and delievered him to a secret place to write about Elisha being in the field of duty and replacing him,
and all they did as prophets in the second year of king Jehoram of Judah,
he was taken out of danger, in the 6th [ of his 8 ], years he got a letter from Elijah to tell him, he would be dead in two years for having killed all the royal family 2Chr.21:12-19;

I have doubts myself about God. We were brought up Christians but problems, difficulties and unanswered prayers, as I mature, led me to believe that people like to think that there is a god ready to help them in time of need because it gives them hope so that religions were founded; but, when one is really in a bad situation and no help is in sight, a proof of a loving, helpful god is wanting. I believe that there is a creator though for how could the universe have existed. I want to believe that he/she is a mere observer and that everything that happens in the world is brought about by the interactions of all living things and the forces of nature.

Does anybody share the same belief that there is a creator and that the creator merely observes his creations?

You have to keep in context. Elijah was a famous prophet who had stopped the rain for three years and called down fire and delivered Israel form the Baals of Ahab and Jezebel.... and now??. the situation is you are referring to involved the successor of Elijah who was taken up in a chariot of fire in a whirlwind to heaven , Elisha had a group of kids were trivializing and disrespecting God by calling ELisha a baldhead. ELijsha had shaved his head as a special consecration to God

There is both mercy and justice in old and new testaments but justice is more clear in the old often and mercy more clear in the new often and in this case the group of chidren were involved in considerable disrespect of the national prophet. It like spiritually walking off a building and expecting gravity not to have an effect

THis was a time of Israel not raising children to repsect God and perhaps God felt the parents needed a serious wakeup call to rethinik how they were raising children and that there are indeed consequence in this and the next world In the New Testament the emphasis would be on mercy. YOu are probably not aware in the case of Elijah one king sent three troops of soldiers to ELijah to arest him and bring him in and the first two had fire called down on them and the last asked more himbly and he went.... the kids in question knew all the stories and still were disrespectful.... as if playing a weird kinda spiritual russian roulette and they lost

If you read the amplified bible, it will say in the foot notes on the bottom of the page that they were more like young adults or delinquents. And possibly they weren't all killed but torn asunder. A lot of people think that they were small children but it's just in the translation. In other words the bears just messed them up good.

Hey, God loves the little children of the world...!!! He made them stand in 2 lines while the bears mauled them one by one all 42 kids!!! Hey, high 5! for those kids!

No child molestation charges were brought against the prophet... God's "journey mercies" protection has always been on the HOLY PREDATORS!!!

Your question has no real thought about it, all your questions seem to be having a dig at something you obviously do not understand, you seem to be just passing time with being child like.
Spend you time better, you may become a loving person worthy of your parents input.

Maybe satan sent the bears and all God did was move away his hand of protection because of the kids deliberate mocking of God's Holy Man of that hour. Lots of horrible things happened back in that time period.........worse things than that at the hands of pagans and unbelievers who even sacrificed their children to the God of Molech in the fire.
Why must you magnify this passage of Scripture to make God appear evil? Woe to those who call Good evil and evil Good. See when Elijah pronounced a curse it just removed God's protection. The children had rejected God. Maybe they were at the age of accountability.

15 Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him. 16 Then they said to him, “Look now, there are fifty strong men with your servants. Please let them go and search for your master, lest perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has taken him up and cast him upon some mountain or into some valley.”
And he said, “You shall not send anyone.”
17 But when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, “Send them!” Therefore they sent fifty men, and they searched for three days but did not find him. 18 And when they came back to him, for he had stayed in Jericho, he said to them, “Did I not say to you, ‘Do not go’?”

Elisha Performs Miracles

19 Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren.”
20 And he said, “Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. 21 Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, “Thus says the LORD: ‘I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’” 22 So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.
23 Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!”

24 So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

Fear God........for he alone is wise.
