I think that it does have an effect on young people. That is where parents are failing though. Not on an adult though. We are not what we watch..we watch what we are. If you are an idiot you will watch idiotic programs etc.
A sound minded responsible person can watch South Park or Family Guy and appreciate the sarcasm and have the common sense to know that the right way to behave in society

first of all, there have always been people saying that morals are in decline since years agone; they said this in the 1950s, the 1900s, the 1840s, all between and long before... all the weay back to ancient Egypt. It's always easier to see the recent negaitves as a change form the norm, ewhen in fact there is just continuity of a certain lebvel of negatives (which in turn are always easier to notice than the positives)

That said, strong families and communities are positive influences on children; the lack of these (rather than TV itself) is the largest problem (to the extent there is a problem). But when the TV becomes a surrogate parent/babysitter, and there is no positive discussion/interaction about some of the negatives one may encounter on TV, a secondary problem emerges, too.

Depends on what you watch. Laziness and vegging out in front of a tv is mindnumbing and a waste of time for me.and completely irresponsible. I haven't watched in over two months. Documentaries, public tv stations, National Geographic, educational channels are great. I'm crazy for Spongebob Square Pants and Courage, the Cowardly Dog for laughs. Avoid the Hitler (History) channel; it's as low as you can get and frequently inaccurage when they deign to show something else.

No decay is from parents not parenting, expecting the "system" to mold their children.
The TV does not know who is watching - to alter the content to match the views mental and moral level. A parent knows this.
Parents interaction or lack determines the child's fate.

Only if it's used as a babysitter. Bad parenting leads to decaying moral values.

Poor parenting adds more to decaying of moral values than too much TV does.

Watching the news is hazardous to one's health as well.

Morality is very subjective, so you'd need to be more specific. I'm pretty much amoral as far as many "religious" people are concerned. But I'm one of the few people I know that don't cross my moral boundaries. TV is only as influential as you are taught it is. So, yeah, pad parenting is generally the keystone there.

Too much T.V. leads to the decay of everything smart about people...

They need to get out there under the big gray sky, and dive headfirst and nekked into this savage Tarzan Jungle World...

...and gain an appreciation and enjoyment of life...

...while battling for their very lives, the lions, and tigers, and bears that haunt this mighty Orb of Blue Slowly Turning Gray/Green... and travel the world, and see through exposure to other cultures, that we should ALL be brothers and sisters of Mother Earth together... and be...(pause...wait for it...)

Free...

...and THAT builds "good" moral values...

T.V. destroys every good within our "hahts..." (I watch four hours a day...anymore, and I would become...

...The Devil! (evil laughter echoeing throughout the halls of eternity...)

Depends on what tv shows you are watching. TV alone won't decay any moral values if you have others telling you what is right and wrong. If someone tells you that what you are watching isn't right...then the morals shouldn't suffer, but I wouldnt condone watching underage drinking, and sex...

I was exposed to a lot of things growing up
nothing was hidden ... but everything was explained
and I consider myself to be quite a moral person
it isnt how much TV kids watch ... it is how little supervision they have
