i dont want it to just say "save the date! 06/28/08 Merry Christmas!" what would be a good way to incorporate it all?

these are save the date cards, not invites, and also, you are supposed to send out save the date cards at least 6 months in advance, I work in the industry.

This is a GREAT idea! I don't know why people are being so down on it. We're definitely doing this and we're not getting married until 10/08. I'm trying to incorporate a play of words using "merry/marry". I'm searching for suggestions online right now and I found your message. I think it's a really cute thing to do! We've got lots of out-of-towners, so a save the date is really important and I think incorporating it in a Christmas card is a really great idea. Let me know if you come up with something!

How about "Happy Holidays, we are very excited to annouce our Wedding date 06/28/08. Please save the date and have a wonderful Holiday Season. Love Me and Him!"

Good for you saving trees, but sending out a holiday card and save the date combo! I think most people will appreciate the card, and use the date as a reminder of your wedding, but other than that people really dont care about all the Holiday cards and that stuff.

6 months in advance is waaaaaay too early to send out save the date cards. It will just seem like you are not accepting any excuses for people to not come to your wedding. If you don't want to pay for separate save the date cards, then closer to the wedding send out save the date emails, they have websites that can do them for you.

Put a little save the date card inside your holiday card.

I would do a holida card, and include a save-the-date magnet in the card. I don't think you have to mention the wedding in the actual card.

Here's a place to get the magnets.

Very inappropriate.....Do not combine the two occasions.... If it is a matter of cost, obviously just do the wedding invitations, and start fresh next Christmas with the Christmas cards. If it's not a matter of cost neither of you are married yet so individual Christmas cards would have to be sent.

I think this is a bit tacky. Holiday cards and wedding invitations should be sent separately. Just my opinion :)
