Did you know that smoking cirgerettes, and drinking alchohal is worse for you then smoking pot? and the only reason why pot became illegal is because the paper factory, and the news factory started spreading lies so that people couldn't use hemp anymore instead of paper.
It also has a lot of medical uses, cancer patients, people with aids and ADD, think that smoking pot it a better way to take care of their symptoms then poping pills, or taking other heavy medicines
so why is it illegal? thats what i want to know, if you ask me everyone should be smokin da reefa

with personal experience and knowing a lot of people that do it you can do anything you want to high that you can do normally, including driving.
P.S- to aneswer your question its because a lot more people used hemp because it was cheaper and more durable, so in order to make people stop buying that product, and start buying theirs, they made it illegal

Old argument, my friend.
Why is it illegal?
Because the PEOPLE want it illegal.
The people request or repeal the laws. The police don't just make them up.
If you want change... Call your State Representatives.
This is not a Law Enforcement & Police issue.
The people request the laws.
The Legislator writes the laws.
The police enforce the laws that the people request.
To answer your edit.... Hey, stop smoking dope and pick up a political science book... The government IS the people. The govenment does not make the law... the people do.... Dude, you just ruined any credibility I may have had that you wanted and deserved an intelligent answer.
*Edit #2:
In response to your statement:
"Adding on once more, there have been 0 deaths ever caused from marajuana, suck on that"
You really believe that? Ok, let me give you just one.... I was recently at a call where a group of 5 teens were sitting around smoking weed. After getting stoned out of their minds.. one of the genuis boys goes in his parents room, brings out a handgun, and while showing off and giggling to his friends, points it at his head and pulls the trigger.
We spent about 4 hours scraping up his brains off the walls. You think he would have done that if NOT smoking weed?
Or, maybe one more..... A couple guys, yes, you guessed it, STONED were watching that movie Jackass and thought it would be fun to try that roof surfing deal... well, the one guy fell of the roof and didn't die, but now he is in a wheel chair. You think he would have done that if not stoned?
Ok, your right, he didn't die.... another night, this group of fun loving teens get all stoned out and think it would be fun to go mailboxing with a ball bat. One fool, while the car was going about 40, hangs out the window to whach a box. Well, it was one of those concrete mail boxes, he hit it, fell out of the car and the right rear wheel ran over his pumkin head.
Would he have done that if not stoned?
I could go on all day.
Ya, your right..... no one has ever died from pot.
But, keep fishing... you will find other stoners to agree with you.

You've got to be the most ill-informed, typical pothead I know. Marijuana is now the leading cause of drug related emergency room episodes. No marijuana deaths eh? 187 in 199. All this by the way is verifiable in the link I provided below, so there's no denying it. The immaturity of potheads will be confirmed by the thumbs down I get. Doesn't affect driving huh? Experiments show that a wide range of skills needed for driving are affected by marijuana use. Reaction time is slowed; tracking (the ability to stay in the lane through curves) is affected; the ability to maintain speed and keep the proper distance between cars is impaired; perception and an accurate sense of time are disturbed. Impairment from smoking one joint lasts 4 - 6 hours or longer and a great increase of accident risk occurs. All this also is verifiable in the link. The link is very credible by the way, direct from WCTU, an established Medical University. Medical use you say, sorry, no. As of January, 2001, the Mississippi Research Center for the National Institute on Drug Abuse had on record more than 15,000 studies on cannabis. None of them show the raw material marijuana to be safe or effective for medical use. Medical authorities agree that smoking is not an appropriate delivery system for a medication. Medical and health-related organizations who continue to reject marijuana as a medical solution include: the American Medical Association, American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, International Federation of Multiple Sclerosis Societies, National Institute for Neurological Disorder and Stroke, National Institute of Dental Research, National Institute on Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and American Cancer Society.
You, are the one who should, as you say,
SUCK ON THAT.

Hemp is, as a matter of fact, in use today and is used to manufacture quite a few items. There is very little evidence to support the medicinal value of marijuana and the medical uses that are proven do not require the active agent in marijuana that makes one high, nor does it require that the weed be smoked. Smoking pot has been shown to be as detrimental to the lungs as smoking tobacco and the intoxicating effects can be every bit as detrimental as alcohol.

You asked. WOW, did you ever get answers. And I didn't even see the mention of verifiable birth defects or the damage caused to male reproductive systems.
There has NEVER been a verifiable scientific medical study showing marijuana is medically helpful. Just people such as yourself who believe urban legends or anecdotal studies. Studies where patients thought they were getting marijuana proved there is NO medical use for marijuana - it is in the patients' heads that it helps. NORML has yet to to conduct a scientific study to show marijuana has a medical use & if anyone wanted to prove it more than NORML, I have no idea who.
The fact is marijuana remains illegal for various reasons. Perhaps the most prevalent is that the majority of the people want it to remain illegal.

I think if you want to legalize pot, a Yahoo board is not the way to lobby for a change.
Your points are valid, don't misunderstand me. In fact, we grow several houseplants easily available at Wal-mart and Home Depot that have a hallucinogenic sap. Why aren't they censored as well, like Canabis is? Poppy seed cakes and bagels have been proven to give false positives on drug tests as well, why not ban poppy flowers in home gardens too?
So, the question is a good one, but anyone looking for a quick rush can easily sniff a jar of nail polish. Why insist on legalizing pot then, with all other legal, available alternatives to get to the same endpoint?

You state that paper factories starting complaining about hemp products to make them illegal, but why would they do that?
Marijuana is illegal because it changes your perception rather than just dulling it. You have difference sense perception when you are hi.
