why do they take your address and phone number when cops catch you with something?

if you get caught with people who have weed. and they think youre high, and take your phone number and address, what will they do.

They will do a Field Interview Report or Street Check or what ever they call it where you live.

It will list all of your information in the agency data base about the contact they had with you. That way, in the future if any officer runs your name in the agency data base, they will see the prior contact with you.

Whats sad... You now have your name in their files as being a drug user. So, say 5 years from now a potential employer runs your name through that agency for a name search for pre employment, and they are going to get a print out of the situation where the police found you 'high'.

You now have a police record...NO, not a criminal record, but a POLICE record in their data base.

Lets just hope you are a minor and that they seal all juvenile records in that agency.

Never a good thing.
