Talk to your parents, and a doctor about losing weight. At 13, and with your height, I don't think 140 is"overweight". I am an adult, at your height, and I am trying to get down to 145 which is what I was told is my"goal" weight.(don't ask me what I weigh, lol, I'm not proud of it, though I have lost 50 pounds already^_^)

The only thing that really works is burning more calories than you take in. Think of what it is that you eat or drink that is full of calories that you could cut down on or eliminate. For example if you have a habit of having pop and a candy bar every day, try substituting diet pop and a healthier snack, like a granola bar or some low fat popcorn. Eat your biggest meal of the day earlier, and smaller meal toward the end of the day. Also, try not eating after six in the evening, because what you eat before bed will not be burned off, and will cause you to gain weight. I know that's hard for me, too. Whatever you can do to burn calories will help. Walking, running, swimming, bike riding. And it's always easier to have a friend work out with you, it's more fun and they can help encourage you. There is no magic way to lose weight, unfortunately. It takes a lot of self-discipline (I know, I've been there!). Stick to it, and I'm sure you will have success!

The best way to loose belly fat is to go for a long jog. And of course a low fat diet would help too. Don't eat anything at least 2 hours before you go to bed because that gives time for your stomach to digest food. Drink lots of water. Also, about eating snacks. Say it's 3:00 pm and you get hungry but don't eat anything. By the time you eat dinner (say 5:30) you'll be so hungry that you'll eat way more than you would have if you would have just had an apple or handful of chips.

Despite the claims of many uninformed people and the hype generated by the huge weight loss industry, weight loss is not about dieting and its not about hitting a target by a certain day.

Its all about a healthy lifestyle. Once you convert to a healthy lifestyle then you will never have to diet or lose weight ever again.

You have to be patient and slowly evolve your eating and exercise patterns and the time to start is now. It sounds like a terrible thing but its not. If you SLOWLY increase your activity levels and SLOWLY make healthy changes to your diet then you will be happier and healthier for the rest of your life.

The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. If you want anymore details, feel free to email me. Just please be patient for ppl seem to email me for advice on this, I will reply, don't worry! ~Adia`
