I bought a thermometer and keep my fridge at 40F. My veggies and fruit stay crispier much longer now that I know how cold my fridge is.

a standard home refrigerator should have a freezer temperature of 15 degrees farenheit and a fresh food compartment temperature of 40 degrees farenheit. A deep freeze will freeze down to -8 degrees farenheit which will freeze ice cream solid as a rock. These are the temperatures for a "frost free" model. The old "manual defrost" units do not get as cold due to ice build-up and no fan to recirculate the refrigerated air in the unit. Preventive maintenance for frost free units includes cleaning the condenser coils and condensate fan motor, blow out and flush condensate drain line and cleaning door gaskets.

I seriously recomend you invest in a fridge thermometer (couple of quids at best). Keep it in an you can monitor the temp. of your fridge at any time.
By law fridges temp. should be between 1and 8°C, 1 being coldest and 8 being warmest.
Your freezer should be -18°C or below.

Get a thermometer for the fridge... it should be around 40F. The freezer should be at 0F or if you can -10F. Anything warmer, ice cream will be soft.
I'd recommend just setting it in the middle at 3.
Too cold and stuff will freeze. Too high stuff stays warm
